What about Sarah?
Edited on Sun Sep-14-08 09:50 AM by Turbineguy
Back in the days of the Cold War, when we lived with the very real possibility of being blasted to kingdom come any moment, I looked at people's behavior and wondered: How does the possibility of no future affect how one goes about living today?

How much did nuclear bombs influence people taking drugs, or the so-called sexual revolution, divorce rates, motivation to commit crimes? Does the possibility of nuclear annihilation make for a cohesive society where people care about each other? From my observations, not really no.

I saw a lot of people carrying on in the '60s and '70s as if there was no tomorrow. OK, many seem to have survived it more or less in tact. But they weren't running for President or Vice-President either then.

Sarah Palin belongs to a church where they sing stuff like "This world has nothing for me". How can that type of thinking not affect how you view the future?

Can you expect such a person to care about planning for their elderly years? What would be the point of doing that? This relationship that these people have with God seems to be intensely personal and selfish in spite of it being carried out in public.

Now how does such a person care about what happens to somebody else? How can they?

We've traded nuclear bombs for these peoples' bizarre view of God. And there doesn't seem to be all that much difference.

I don't know if that's what God has in mind. But from my reading of the Bible, I think not.

1. I don't want someone in control of nuclear weapons...

...who believes that the apocalypse and the return of Jesus will happen in her lifetime, as Sarah Palin may believe.

It's a reason that I donated more to Obama-Biden.
