The Army Times goes after McCain on flip-flop
McCain on FCS: Flip-flop or fib?

By Bradley Peniston - Staff writer
Posted : Saturday Sep 13, 2008 6:58:20 EDT

Has Sen. John McCain renounced his longtime antagonism toward the Army’s Future Combat Systems?

On Sept. 8, the Republican presidential candidate told a rally crowd in Lee’s Summit, Mo., about an Obama video message to a liberal advocacy group.

“He promised them he would, quote, ‘slow our development of Future Combat Systems,’” McCain said, according to wire reports. “This is not a time to slow our development of Future Combat Systems.”

Flashback to July, however, when his campaign furnished McCain’s economic plan to The Washington Post, declaring that “there are lots of procurements — Airborne Laser, Globemaster, Future Combat System — that should be ended and the entire Pentagon budget should be scrubbed.”

In fact, McCain has long criticized the over-budget, behind-schedule FCS program. In 2005, he blasted the Army for allowing the program to balloon to $161 billion, and forced the service to rewrite the main FCS contract.

2. But those who read the Army Times vote.
Wherever the TRUTH is being told, then it's a plus for us.

5. The key is the audience
and their knowledge of what McCain is talking about. I'll bet not one knows what the FCS is or what McCain did or didn't do for or against the project.

The only thing they heard or know is "Future Combat System" which they willingly lapped up like they did "Clear Skies" and "No Child Left Behind"! For most of the folks at that rally that is all they will ever know about the program and all they will take away is that Obama was against it.
