PALIN FAMILY SHOCKERS: WHAT SARAH'S REALLY HIDING! Nat. Enq.

PALIN FAMILY SHOCKERS: WHAT SARAH'S REALLY HIDING!
http://www.nationalenquirer.com/

Well, this is not in the first 4 pages, so I figured I'd put it up. This is seen in all grocery stores. Much more widely read that the NYTimes, and it grabs you in line, every time.

“I’ve partied with him (Track) for years,” a source disclosed. “I’ve seen him snort cocaine, snort and smoke OxyContin, drink booze and smoke weed.”

The source also divulged the girls would do anything for Track and he’d use his local celebrity status to manipulate other guys “to get them to steal things he wanted.”

“He finally did what a lot of troubled kids here do,” the source divulged. “You join the military.”

Another family friend revealed pre-prego Bristol was as much of a hard partier as Track was.

“Bristol was a huge stoner and drinker. I’ve seen her smoke pot and get drunk and make out with so many guys. All the guys would brag that the just made out with Bristol.”

When Sarah found out the teen was pregnant by high schooler Levi Johnston, she was actually banished from the house. As part of the cover-up, Palin quickly transferred Bristol to another high school and made her move in with Sarah’s sister Heather 25 miles away!

Also, confirmation about her affair 10 years ago.

67. Posters are making fun of the term "hockey mom" because that is how Palin has described herself.
I don't think they mean to insult all hockey or soccer moms. Of course we should all be dealing with just the issues; however, it is amusing to see how the self-proclaimed super-mom (and religious beacon) has had major problems with her kids. I'm glad the National Enquirer is an equal opportunity exposer of personal foibles and doesn't just go after Democrats (like so much of the media does). She has really set herself up for this with her 'holier than though' personna.

By the way, I'm a soccer mom and am not offended in the least be attacks on "hockey mom" Palin.

22. At the same time
the National Enquirer stays on sale for a week. All across America, at gas stations, bookstores, grocery stores the headline stays the same for a week. It gets in their brains, even if they don't buy it. That's part of the insideousness of them. ;) With daily papers, the headlines & stories change and people don't remember the headlines as well.

fwiw, the story that Clinton had a black love child started in the tabloid (The Globe's) headline and became well-known enough that Joe Klein included it in his book "Primary Colors". The story got wider circulation because of the movie. Then there's the Gary Condit saga. His career ended because of the scrutiny and insinuations that he was involved in Chandra Levy's death.

26. The Nat'l Enquirer is rarely wrong. They pay for sources and have a HUGE research team.
Their snarky comment back to McCain in regard to Palin was that THEY actually vetted Palin, unlike McCain. They have some serious dough and serious attorneys checking out the stories. It's rare that they ever have to backtrack. There's a reason why they rarely get sued.. Gosh, remember when McCain Campaign said they're suiting NE for the Palin stuff a few weeks ago? And yet.. this new issue hits even harder.

52. Tell that to Carol Burnett
Burnett drew attention in 1981, when she sued the National Enquirer for libel after the tabloid newspaper described her alleged public drunkenness, purportedly with Henry Kissinger. Burnett was particularly sensitive to the accusations because of her parents' own alcoholism. The case was a landmark for libel cases involving celebrities, although the unprecedented $1.6 million verdict for Burnett was reduced to about $800,000 on appeal, and eventually settled out of court.

58. Burnett Factor
Once the Enquirer lost to Burnett, they changed their ways...and they really do employee a big staff, lawyers, etc. in order to avoid losing any future law suits. So, yes, they lost to Burnett (and rightly so, from what I read), but to my knowledge, that was the last case like that for them. They're not stupid, and they're not the Weekly World News (lots of alien stuff). As a matter of fact, I think they actually end up bartering with certain celebrities to NOT print their dirty laundry. In return, those celebrities give them exclusives about something or other.

Yes, the Enquirer doesn't get them all wrong. Even a blind pig and all that...

But defending the veracity of the Enquirer (particularly when its story is backed by unnamed sources) may come back to bite you if/when the Enquirer decides to print some rumor about Obama or Biden, which is almost to be expected since their main goal is to sell their rag.

Palin is a nightmare. Her crappy-ass parenting should disqualify her from the VP slot. How fucking dare the MSM try to sanitize the truth about her parenting skills. It matters.

and they look willing to go down with the ship. You can't tell me that we're the only ones who see she's unfit for the job. They know it too, but they want so badly to believe it that they're willing to divorce themselves from reality to see it through. No, actually on second thought it's worse than that. They're putting their country at risk during a very critical time in our history so they can keep driving for four more years. She's not just unfit to be VP, she would be unfit for even a high level cabinet position. It flies in the face of reason that the party of hyper-patriotism - who deride their political opponents at every opportunity as "on the wrong side of history" - is willing to put every single American in harm's way by electing an imbecile to be ready to assume the presidency if John McCain expires.

I don't blame them as much for trying it, as I do the media not doing their duty to call them out on it.

Don't count on them for anything like accuracy, as they freely mix fiction with fact. They hurt whoever they target--such as John Edwards.

If the low information voters pick up on this stuff, fine. If the MSM decides to investigate, fine. But imo Democrats should not be using the NE as any kind of "source" for our statements about McCain-Palin.

confuse it with the (now defunct but once hilarious) "Weekly World News" and other knockoff tabloids.

People hear the word "Enquirer" and reflexively start spitting out their own headlines: "Space Aliens control Disneyland....The President is a robot...World to end in 2007..."

That's the greatest challenge to its credibility.

The Enquirer busted Gary Hart and John Edwards when nobody else could. We'll likely be seeing a lot more of Sarah at the checkout line between now and November.

60. I wonder if the N.E. will release the juiciest stuff before the election
They may just hope for a Palin victory. A McBush-Palin administration in the White House would be a gossip mag bonanza. Between Cindy McCain's drug shenanigans, McBush's temper tantrums and Palin's completely dysfunctional family, they'd have stories to last a lifetime.
