The biggest thing I always liked and respected about President Bill Clinton
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 09:59 PM by Jake3463
Bill Clinton was the state director for Texas in the 1972 McGovern campaign. He learned first hand how dirty the GOP was and internalized it. He understood it was the party of Nixon not the party of Lincoln. He wasn't afraid to mix it up with them and climb into the mud and fuck them up.

Why am I saying this. Because we have an amazing candidate but I don't think he realized how dirty and nasty his opponents were till last week. He has the fault of believing the best in people and until last week I believe he believed the best about John S. McCain. I'm not concerned he adapts quickly and I trust him. The thing we always had with Bill and to some extend Hillary was they knew the opposition and knew what shit they would pull.

3. Obama knows
he came up in the Chicago system--nothing is rougher than that.

Obama handed their Clinton their respective asses in the primary. I think a lot of people have already forgotten?

Now--its the repugs turn to have their asses handed to them!!

GOBAMA GOBIDEN

4. The Chicago system
is democratic. It isn't GOP.

As nasty as Chicago democrats can get. The national GOP is the biggest bunch of lying scumbags in the world. There is a certain line that no democrat crosses. Look at our corruption scandals vs. theirs.

5. Chicago style politics
can be a bare knuckled brawl. I have family there that goes way back--and I know what I am talking about. Trust me, Obama knows how to fight.

6. No doubt
However, he tends to believe the best in people. Which is a good thing than beats the shit out of them.

President Clinton love or hate him. Never gave anyone with an R after their name the benefit of the doubt.

14. I don't think Obama is a wuss
I think he believes people are good and honest till they prove otherwise. Obama believed McCain was a decent man that was wrong on the issues. I think he just realized McCain is an asshole who is wrong on the issues.

16. He doesn't actually
If he did, he wouldn't be as ruthless as he is while campaigning.

He's ruthless now, but it's not as widely known because of the media.

Look at his praise of small town mayors for his most recent twisting of the knife.

10. Daley's political machine is Democratic only by convenience.
They are some of the most corrupt bastards out there, but by and large, the city works.

11. I never called them corrupt--
just tough and bare knuckle politics where a person would learn how to fight. Please don't misconstrue my words and try to put RW talking points into my mouth :puke:

I am merely making a point that Obama and the people around him have seen it get rough and tough before and they know what to do--so chill out.

7. I have self censored my cracked sense of humor and
refused to think about the "big thing" that Bill's interns found interesting about him.

Honest! If you see anything perverse about this post, it's YOUR fault!

13. The opposition always finds a new low to sink to, so they can keep the shock value up.
I DO think it's time to quit saying what a good "friend" McCain has been to all the other Senators.

BUT I'm really glad Obama is going with the TRUTH because, the truth can be pretty damn shocking itself, especially when the other side continues to lie it's ass off.

I can live with DEMs being the party that's all about TRUTH. Suits me fine. Get these bozo's who are living on Fantasy Island with their "We can do whatever we want to the world and you can't stop us crap" and pull them up short. Or by the shorts. Whatever.

15. I think Obama can handle it
Though he appears to be the consummate gentleman, remember he grew up the bi-racial kid of a white divorcee mother and a black father who was never there for him and from another country. He hasn't made it this far without knowing how to fight like hell against all kinds of crap thrown at him. I have great faith and respect for him and feel confident he knows exactly how to fight like a champ. He's just smart enough to do it with dignity and class.

I'm a veteran of the PA primary. I know he can handle it. People look at us like we lost PA. We made up 12 points in 6 weeks...actually pretty remarkable when you think about it.

18. The thing I like best is he frames the difference between D and R beautifully
Very simple devastating contrast, using big issues, the basic theories, and a handful of stats.

Obama needs to find something similar. Clinton never let a post-convention stretch get off track like this.

19. Sorry, but I disagree
Do you really believe that Obama fell off of the cabbage truck? Axelrod? Well, I don't.

This campaign really is about timing & pacing, how to hit, how to counter punch--and when.

Obama has to run a different campaign because he is a black man. I have read some of your posts and I have to believe that you understand how race in the US handicaps Obama, how his game has to be better, more clever. Please give him his due and your support by not second guessing his campaign.

20. I will not second guess Obama and his campaign. There were a lot
of people that didn't give him a thought when he announced his candidacy and look at where he is now! He is the candidate we nominated and he kicked a lot of asses to get here! The Republican liars and tricksters are doing just what they want. They are getting a lot of people to doubt that we can win this! This is what they want...for us to become divided! Obama is a black man and cannot come out too nasty because of that very reason. That isn't to say the campaign won't fight back. Let him keep telling America where he can take us and let others do the nasty stuff. Either you are on board or you're not. I'm not doubting him. We are taking back the white house from the thugs that are in there now!

Obama/Biden!

I just think Obama was caught off guard by the level of lying.
