Read a book, Sarah Palin!
I guess what I don't understand about the RW's adoration of Sarah is the plain fact that she is uneducated. She's a one-trick pony who only talks about oil/energy. I feel like I'm watching someone who reads "Cosmo" or "Bass Weekly". The problem with this is that it reflects what I see in our country as a teacher. Schools are so dumbed-down that we wind up with someone like Palin suddenly at the top. The bar has been lowered to such a point that huge numbers of our citizens actually admire this woman. Why? Because they identify with her. They see life just as she does, and their level of world knowledge is about level with hers.

Yesterday Bob Herbert wrote an op/ed in the NYT that included this statement:

"Ms. Palin’s problem is not that she was mayor of a small town or has only been in the Alaska governor’s office a short while. Her problem (and now ours) is that she is not well versed on the critical matters confronting the country at one of the most crucial turning points in its history."

We will pay a huge price if McCain/Palin is elected.

1. Books are the problem with Ms. Palin.
Whenever she speaks on a concept that isn't in her strength, she sounds like a kid who crammed all night before the quiz, stuffing down facts with rote memorization, instead of truly _understanding_ what she's memorized, and the context of those facts. "Well (fill in the name of interviewer), when we're discussing (fill in blank of subject), which, by the way, (fill in one or two factoids lifted from the CIA Factbook or Encyclopedia Britanica), we need to (insert party line talking point of the McBush campaign or Bush administration)". That is her demonstration of mastery of facts and experience.

I'm sorry, but this does not pass muster as experience, by even the wildest torturing of that term. In these dangerous times, being led by someone, or even having as a Vice President, someone who has to "cram" in order to have a chance at "getting it right" on the job is unacceptable on its face.

5. parrot
She seemed to be repeating her convention speech all over the country like a mindless parrot. She is plain (or, should I say Palin) ignorant.

3. I wish Charlie Gibson had ask her name some of her favorite books.....
on USA foreign relations. I'm sure she would have responded with that 'deer in the headlights' look.

4. A relative of mine told me today she's smarter than Obama
Seriously. Based on what I have absolutely no idea. Neither did he when I asked him where she had gone to college. He had no idea. Nor how many years or colleges it took for to finally get a degree. Whereas Obama is a Harvard Law School grad who was the editor of the Harvard Law Review. Is it possible to divorce your relatives? God Knows I'm ready to toss mine.
