Visualize Obama/Biden and to Hell with what's her name...
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 08:32 PM by sunnybrook
We need to shift focus here.

I understand that it is technically possible for Palin to become president and what all that means, and all the freaked out posts that follow..."a PENTECOSTAL could become president,".... or, take your pick, a "book censoring, wolf killing, lying, gun totin, power abusin', extremist ignoramous" (the list goes on) could become president (Palin). I understand how ridiculous this is, how shocking this is, how outrageous this is.... but Moose woman is no longer NEWS. She is an idiot, that has been established, but this is not NEWS anymore, this is a couple of weeks old. She is a goldmine for comedians and for the media, who love a story that will stir up the nasty, divisive, worst side of human nature.

But are we contributing to her popularity, and even unintentionally legitimizing her by constantly saying that she could become president? I think most people are aware that the VP could become president, and most people understand that this is especially crucial in the case of Senior Citizen McCain... But are we helping people visualize her as president? I understand that we have a negative visualization, but on some level it may promote an apathetic acceptance, lowering the bar, as we have seen happen with the current occupant of the oval office.

Don't we instead need to be visualizing Obama as president and Biden as totally ready to step in and be a great president? Don't we need to offer this vision, that we would be in good hands with either of these two? This is not a choice that fills us with terror, but this is extremely POSITIVE. This is what we want to visualize, the positive direction the country will be headed under these circumstances. Is there anyone here that believes in the Martin Luther King philosophy about the power of love being stronger than hatred? That no lie can live forever?

We did not need Palin to "fire up" our base, although she has helped. But we were fired up already! We were fired up at Obama's historic speech. It is time for Biden to break through this wall of anonymity! This is ridiculous!

1. There is so much there with Palin. So much crap. Turns out she runs
the governor's office just like Bush ran the white house: cronyism and bullying.

"Palin: cronyism and bullying" should be the words of the month at the DU IMHO.

2. I agree totally
the list is never ending about her, it is unbelievable... But we don't just have a negative in her, it's not like we have to choose the lesser of 2 evils in this election. Obama and Biden are EXCELLENT candidates. I just think that should not be overlooked when we are attempting to persuade voters. We should not lose Biden in here. I just recently got a job working as a legal advocate for abused women. Joe Biden is a HERO to the women I work with because of VAWA, they were totally jazzed when Obama picked him. The Dems have such a positive ticket to vote FOR, and not just because of the desperate patheticness of McCain Palin.
