The pressure’s on ABC anchor Charles Gibson to ask Sarah Palin some smart, tough questions as legions of Americans prepare to tune into the Alaska governor in her first media interview as the GOP VP nominee.
The seasoned newsman is in Alaska right now with the 44-year-old mother of five.
The first excerpts of his highly-anticipated interview - air tonight during “World News” and “Nightline.”
But the big show comes tomorrow at 10 p.m. on “20/20 - The Interview: Sarah Palin with Charles Gibson.”
More excerpts will run during tomorrow’s “Good Morning America” and “World News.”
We asked Herald online readers for their thoughts and many want Gibson to ask her about specifics and issues - and they don’t want him going soft on her.
One woman wants to know if Gibson will treat Palin the same way he would treat Hillary Clinton during an interview.
Another asked for a live interview. And another dared him to ask her whatever he wants, saying, “I’m sure Sarah can handle herself, even without a teleprompter.”
A reader name Warren wrote: “I hope he gets away from the fluff and gets specific with issues.”
“Ask her about her per diem charges that she charged the State of Alaska while staying at home,” wrote Betty Heupel.
Gayle Jones wants Gibson to ask Palin about about her position on foreign issues, “about our position in Afghanistan and Pakistan and her views of the Iraq war.”
“I think that Governor Palin should be asked exactly why she is qualified to become President of the United States,” wrote Gerald Adams of California. “I think her answer is very important.”
Let’s hope Gibson delivers.
