*****CBS NEWS has picked up the McCain Incoherent interview Story******
McCain Still Struggling With The Basics
By Steve Benen

I'm afraid this is just embarrassingly incoherent. First, the notion that Palin's proximity to Russia counts as national security experience continues to be unusually stupid, even for McCain.

Second, "Energy" is not a response to the question, "What experience does she have in the field of national security?"

And third, to insist, publicly and on the record, that Sarah Palin "knows more about energy than probably anyone else in the United States of America" is, quite literally, laughable. We are, after all, talking about a politician who isn't sure about the human impact on global warming, and hasn't demonstrated any real expertise on the issue. Ever.

As Yglesias recently noted, "Give Sarah Palin this much -- her understanding of the geopolitics of energy is every bit as daft as that of much more seasoned conservative pseudo-experts. She can spin out outlandish and ultimately nonsensical scenarios about Iran (or Venezuela) deploying the mythical 'oil weapon' and she, too, can ignore the fundamentally global nature of hydrocarbon markets by prattling about 'energy independence.'"

Stepping back, it's striking that McCain still, even now, can't answer obvious questions about his own running mate. Caldwell's question was direct, but hardly an unexpected curveball. Indeed, the obvious answer for McCain is that Palin doesn't have a background in national security, but neither do most governors who seek national office, but he's confident in her judgment, her ability to learn quickly, etc.

But, no. Asked an obvious question, McCain offers a confused response that doesn't make any sense.

Honestly, I could not believe what I was reading (transcripts from interview). Talk about baffling us with BS, her responses didn't make any sense. It's like she pulled the answers right out of her..... I don't think she had any idea what Gibson was asking her, forget a hard-line approach, she is clueless.

2. seven stages in Alzheimer's Disease.
Serious Question

There are seven stages in Alzheimer's Disease. All have recognizable symptoms.

Here is just one site with information that can help you.

Previous link was wrong .. my apologies

http://www.alz.org/alzheimers_disease_stages_of_alzheimers.asp

Should a person running (Dem. Rep. or Indy) for the POTUS release his records?

89. stage 3 can be caused by other factors that they fail to mention.
Stressed out or over active life style (absent minded professors, etc), and short term memory loss caused by injury or natural causes other than Alzheimers. Not until Stage 4 would it be clear cut Alzheimers in my opinion. Of course I am not a doctor, just someone who has suffered from slight #3 for most of my life because of stress (yes, even as a child I was treated for stress) and perhaps natural short memory retention. Now it is even worse due to damage caused by a drug induced coma I was put in, stress and medicines I take.

Alzhimer is a catch all disease now. More money for the drug companies now that they are coming up with treatments for it. Again, JMHO and not based on a medical degree. Of course, if you get #4 and you are young, there is such a thing as early Alzheimers. Saw that on Law & Order, where I get all my medical information. ;)

Obviously, the radio feed into his earplug somehow kept repeating the "energy" talking points over and over and the guy in charge didn't know how to fast-forward to the "national security" portion of the feed. Not McCain's fault. The glitches will all be worked out in time for the debates.

Gibson seemed to be running out of patience. Much more so on the tele than on the clips on the ABC website.

If anything, I think the journalists are starting to feel like they're going to need to start beating their heads against walls hoping to dumb themselves down if they're being ordered to make her look competent.

I don't think she's gonna be feeling too much love in the near future...

6. That's a good piece and very to the point - MCCAIN IS AN EMPTY SUIT AND A NAME
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 01:39 PM by TornadoTN
It raises a lot of good questions and points out the glaring problems that McCain has at this point. They are just trotting out there, the two of them, spouting pre-made talking points and living off his Token Vagina. When the questions hit, they can't handle it - but they plan on marching the rest of the campaign exactly like this. They'll pretend that all is well, slime Obama with the same insults with no substance, and hope that the power of the Token Vagina puts them over the 270 mark on election day.

This needs to be hammered - and hammered hard by the Obama team. Forget the "sexism" and Geralding fucking Ferraro and her incensed bullshit that will inevitably follow - the people that matter will listen.

Yikes!! :scared: I'm not even going to tell you the disturbing mental image that comes with the use of that phrase.

The thing that gets me is how he keeps saying "She's the most popular governor in America" when NO ONE had heard of this wench two weeks ago and even members of the Alaskan Republican party are saying tellingly lackluster things about her like "Sure she's competent to run for VP. She's of an appropriate age." How in the hell is this woman the "most popular gov. in America" when two weeks ago no one had a clue she existed???

Is McCain's new strategy "Just make sh*t up and eventually folks will believe it??"

39. This is actually the oldest republican trick in the book
A reporter asks a question, and if they don't like the question, they say something that sounds like a reponse, but doesn't actually answer the question.

Look at W during the last debate:

LEHRER: New question, Mr. President, two minutes.

Do you believe the election of Senator Kerry on November the 2nd would increase the chances of the U.S. being hit by another 9/11-type terrorist attack?

BUSH: No, I don't believe it's going to happen. I believe I'm going to win, because the American people know I know how to lead. I've shown the American people I know how to lead.

I have -- I understand everybody in this country doesn't agree with the decisions I've made. And I made some tough decisions. But people know where I stand.

People out there listening know what I believe. And that's how best it is to keep the peace.

This nation of ours has got a solemn duty to defeat this ideology of hate. And that's what they are. This is a group of killers who will not only kill here, but kill children in Russia, that'll attack unmercifully in Iraq, hoping to shake our will.

We have a duty to defeat this enemy. We have a duty to protect our children and grandchildren.

The best way to defeat them is to never waver, to be strong, to use every asset at our disposal, is to constantly stay on the offensive and, at the same time, spread liberty.

And that's what people are seeing now is happening in Afghanistan.

Ten million citizens have registered to vote. It's a phenomenal statistic. They're given a chance to be free, and they will show up at the polls. Forty-one percent of those 10 million are women.

In Iraq, no doubt about it, it's tough. It's hard work. It's incredibly hard. You know why? Because an enemy realizes the stakes. The enemy understands a free Iraq will be a major defeat in their ideology of hatred. That's why they're fighting so vociferously.

They showed up in Afghanistan when they were there, because they tried to beat us and they didn't. And they're showing up in Iraq for the same reason. They're trying to defeat us.

And if we lose our will, we lose. But if we remain strong and resolute, we will defeat this enemy.

But the answer you provide is supposed to help you, not make you look like a complete idiot!

will it be soon enough?

The debates mean everything now. The polls are clearly showing that this election is trending towards being close enough to steal again.

You can blame it on the MSM, voting purges and voting machines, but the crucial factor is, and will always be the uninformed voters in this country. The nationalistic, xenophopic, homophobic, bible thumpin', gun totin', warmongers that get out and vote.

Sometimes, I don't even think I recognize this country anymore.

Our snowy haired senator whose 4 bouts with cancer and other ailments* swallows a great deal of medication daily to cope physically and mentally. You just have to know someone that is 72 years old and heavily medicated is going to seem in the ozone more times than not. More fun to come.

*from the McCain campaigns document dump of May 23, 2008
In very recent years McCain has experienced: blood in his urine, high cholesterol, degenerative arthritis, diverticulitis, vertigo, enlarged prostate, kidney and bladder problems, weight management issues,--in addition on February 6th of this year he had a squamous cell carcinoma removed from a leg, and on April 1st he had "6" pre-cancerous polyps removed from his colon. This dump did not indicate any mental/physiological records or what might be missing in that area as far as drugs or antidepressants currently administered.

We don't need another Commander-in-Chief who make decisions by the seat of his pants--or, god forbid, his gut! McCain lacks the temperament to be president. He is rash and reckless, and I do no want his finger on the 'button.'

We make him president at our peril.

44. Palin is the diversion. Gramps is the Real Issue.
Palin might be unqualified, in fact I'm sure she is, and she might be a dangerous religious fundamentalist radical, in fact I'm pretty sure she is that too, but McCain is mentally unfit to serve. He is frequently incoherent, does not seem to be in control of his own campaign, and is prone to errors in judgement, such as his choice of a running mate, that are suspect to say the least.

Gramps is too old. It is that simple.

that Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her adequate foreign policy experience. I've heard that from at least 4 different Republicans, and Gramps was not the first.

There is more than enough proof and it has been around for a long, long, LONG, time. There is already absolutely MASSIVE PROOF - just by taking a quick look at youtube files -ANYONE can find countless examples of McCain stumbling around, making incoherent and confused statements and answering questions without a clues of what is up or down.

And Palin is even far, far less prepared.

This information MUST, ABSOLUTELY MUST be made into the public consciousness and it must be done fast!

Just because one is qualified doesn't mean they can perform. We saw that with Bush/Cheney.

Plenty of governors with basically little or no major foreign policy experience have run before, some successfully elected.

The McCain/Palin campaign could just compare Palin with previous governor only candidates and say how there's a precedent, and how just like so and so, she will pick it up fine.

But these MOTHERFUCKERS can't concede a point about anything, so they'd rather run with some ridiculous story or bald faced lie, about "her state borders Russia" and shit. Rather than a simple, common sense answer with a little dignity.

There's not much there.

Want to know why?

In a nutshell, the "journalist" didn't call him on the carpet on any of his answers.

Hell ... I don't doubt that in freeperland that the interview would be called nothing short of genius.

He met the goal, to get through the interview.

I mean, if you're a student and you get called into the principal's office and layout out a story that allows you to walk out of the office without any of your answers being questioned ... you have succeeded.

Even if the MSM is ruthless and slays him over his answers, the video is the only 'hand in the cookie jar' that really counts. Without that Joe Bag-o-Donuts figure that the 'drive-by media' is making shit up and ganging up on poor John McSame.

Until a real journalist calls McSame on the carpet and has the guts to listen to his response, tell him he didn't answer the question or that his answer defies reality, then reasks him the question ... McSame will continue to effectively get away with making up whatever the fuck he wants to.

An yes, he can get away with telling everyone that Sarah Palin knows more about energy than probably anyone else in the United States of America.

130. His answer makes sense..
Hear me out...

As our energy and national security policies are interwoven at least as far as the Bush Administration and Neo-Con agenda are concerned....

McCain is betraying the fact that our energy policies do affect National Security decisions....

Now, whether that translates to experience in the case of governors that have a lot of oil interests like Bush and Palin into a true understanding of foreign affairs and national security... I doubt it.
