Bill Clinton: "Obama will win and win handily"
I believe ya, Bill.

Bill Clinton tells reporters before he and Obama sit down to lunch in Harlem Thursday that he’s confident the Land of Lincolner can take the race.

Obama chimes in: “There you go. You can take it from the president of the United States. He knows a little bit about politics.”

Clinton adds that he’s going out on the campaign trail later this month, says he’s “agreed to do a substantial number of things.”

48. Yes, it DOES fit corpmedia narrative. 'Dems NEED Clintons' has been pushed onto Dem party for years
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 04:03 PM by blm
That's how the corporatists instill fear into the party whenever it moves left and away from Clinton style capitulations to BushInc.

5. Remember DU, Bill used his summer2004 booktour to support Bush's decisions on terrorism and Iraq war
and defended him vigorously during high profile interviews, even as our Dem nominee was attacking those decisions.

Did "we' have him do that in 2004?

50. so, in YOUR history book, GHWBush's CIA drugrunning operation never happened?
And it never went through Mena, Arkansas, and all those tons of cheap IranContra cocaine never ended up in cities all over America?

OK - then how did CIA documents presented in a 1998 court case prove Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalist Gary Webb's story about CIA drugrunning was accurate? Was none of that cocaine from Poppy's IranContra operations according to you?

Do you even realize that the poster you laugh with posts exaggerated versions of the facts the exact same way the Republican spinners laughed off the IranContra, BCCI and CIA drugrunning charges against Poppy Bush? Big laughs, eh?

Holding open for Hillary. We'll see if the dynamics have changed this time, and if he thinks he has mending of himself to do.

This is not to reopen Hillary wars, but still the truth.

That would be a nice fantasy, wouldn't it, but I wouldn't trust this nation's future to feelgood revisionism. How nice that it works for you in the short term.

44. Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm sure you will, but don't they usually wait until
after the convention to bring out the big guns on the campaign trail. Bill was in the hospital with bypass surgery right after the 2004 convention, but still managed to make a few campaign appearances with John Kerry after he had recovered sufficiently to do so.

46. Kerry was attacking Bush's decisions on terrorism and Iraq war at the time Bill was defending Bush
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 03:20 PM by blm
from those very criticisms. Why pretend Bill did this innocently knowing full well that the Dem nominee at the time was attacking Bush on these very decisions?

You think Bill believes June and July are the months it's OK to support and defend the GOP candidate publicly in high profile broadcast and print interviews and that showing up at Dem rallies late in the election will make up for it?

He knew exactly what he was doing. He was shoring up Bush's support for those questioning Bush's strategic positions on use of force on terrorism and in Iraq. He didn't offer one word of support for Kerry's arguments against Bush's decisions or for Kerry's proposals to deal with terrorism and Iraq.

Just another innocent mistake from a highly regarded political animal, right?

If Bill really believes this, then he is going to hit the campaign trail hard. I also believe that the Clinton's realize that this election is crucial not only to the country, but to the Democratic party as well.

I've had my differences with Bill Clinton, but he's one of the strongest and most effective weapons we have in our aresenal if he's on his game and really believes in his cause. Let's hope that this is the case.

13. I'd rather he said we need to work like hell to get across the finish line because
we are up against some lying, ruthless, will do anything to win opponents. The Rove Machine are experts at this game, and to them it is nothing more than a game. They could care less that millions are faced with being put out on the street, struggling to make ends meet, etc. This links the McCain camp to Bush/Rove.

Sorry, but I think this is the wrong message to send out there - we will in a landslide.

What else would he be expected to say?

In May '08:

"Don't believe all this stuff you read in the press, she can still win this thing if you vote for her big enough," Clinton told a cheering crowd of over 500 packed into the City Hall gym in Phillippi, West Virginia. -- Bill Clinton
