To the editor:
I’ve been a registered Republican for 39 of Sarah Palin’s 44 years, and I am deeply disturbed that John McCain would slap my party in the face by selecting such a supremely unqualified running mate. The woman’s education consists only of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, which it took her six years of switching schools and majors to attain.
A fishy situation for Ms. Sarah “Barracuda” Palin. She describes herself essentially as a pitbull with lipstick,
which possibly explains why she would leave five beautiful children at home to be a career politician, why she would not only condone her daughter’s premarital pregnancy but also exploit it for publicity as it appears she also exploits her disabled infant son.Whether is it naivete or sheer political avarice that drives these decisions, it is unwise and unacceptable behavior of a vice presidential candidate to throw one’s children to the howling press. But a pitbull might.
What kind of mother, given a choice, would return to work just threedays after giving birth to a special needs child? A pitbull or a barracuda.
The phrase, “One heartbeat away” takes on frightening new meaning when one considers that such a rash and inexperienced young woman might someday be sitting in the president’s seat.
I do not believe that Sarah Palin could possibly have America’s best interests at heart and I am insulted that McCain thinks so little of his constituency that he would squander such an important opportunity.
I have to agree with Republican consultant, Mike Murphy, that this was a “cynical” choice by McCain. She is unworthy to be on the same ticket.
Much as I love my party, mooseburgers and Alaska, I cannot in all good conscience, vote for McCain/Palin in this election. Kay Casteel
