McCain finally answers some questions -- or tries to answer some questions.

Watch this interview of John McCain on WCSH in Portland, Maine. McCain is clueless. Clueless about his v.p.

No wonder the McCain campaign doesn't want McCain answering questions. He can't.

Nice work by Rob Caldwell. The McCain campaign thinks the local reporters will only throw softballs.

Actually, it's the national reporters, like ABC's Charlie Gibson, who throw the softballs.

Issues aside, I was truly struck by the hard rage that seems to bubble beneath.

I (kind of) hate to say it but this man does not project mental stability.

4. He attributes his views on Iran, Iraq, Russia, etc., to her--when has she EVER spoken
about any of this before the last 2 weeks? She is only on the record as saying she hadn't thought much about Iraq. How can he get away with saying she understands Russia better than Obama, who sits on the SFRC and has actually developed a policy toward Russia? It's INSANE. And Alaska next to Russia as foreign policy experience--you've got to be fucking kidding, I didn't think they would seriously try to use that after it was mocked two weeks ago. I am aghast that the American people might actually buy this stupidity.

Chef, plane, most popular governor in America--gee, that's news to me! Never heard that before....

Again, Alaska is right next to Russia--still no explanation of why this is relevant.

In response to "what can she do about Islamic extremism" he says "she's right on the issues." :wtf:

I wouldn't say this is Alzheimer's or anything... he just doesn't have actual answers to the questions because there aren't any.

(Is it significant that he doesn't agree with his own party's platform re gay marriage? He says it should be up to the states, the Republicans want a constitutional amendment. Do Republican voters know this?)

In response to "what can she do about Islamic extremism" he says "she's right on the issues."

And then REALLY goes for the jugular with "Barack Obama is WRONG on the issues!!12!" No need to give any details on either of these points, folks. Just take my word for it when I tells ya that Sarah's right and Barack is WRONG!!!

My jaw dropped when he kept saying "she's the most popular governor in America" as if anyone had ever heard of the woman two weeks ago. McCain is so obviously miserable with the way his entire campaign has turned out I wouldn't be surprised if he WANTEd to lose so that he could go home and go to bed.

And he's still pushing the "Alaska is next to Russia, therefore she understands Russia".

He can't possibly believe that. The old John McCain would not have bought that. This is Prisoner of the Right John McCain spouting propaganda on behalf of his captors.

Pathetic.

I am speechless. Absolutely fucking speechless. Two boobs running for the highest office. They are making GW look bright. What is wrong with McCain? I really do think he has either lost 100% of his former self and turned to the dark side or he has some severe mental/Alzheimers problems.

The question was what experience does SP have on foriegn policy or national security..."Well the economy is important....She runs a state that is next to Russia...She is right on Iraq, Iran, Russia...I think she'll be good at foriegn policy..."

OMG!

McCain Still Struggling With The Basics
By Steve Benen

I'm afraid this is just embarrassingly incoherent. First, the notion that Palin's proximity to Russia counts as national security experience continues to be unusually stupid, even for McCain.

Second, "Energy" is not a response to the question, "What experience does she have in the field of national security?"

And third, to insist, publicly and on the record, that Sarah Palin "knows more about energy than probably anyone else in the United States of America" is, quite literally, laughable. We are, after all, talking about a politician who isn't sure about the human impact on global warming, and hasn't demonstrated any real expertise on the issue. Ever.

33. He sounds like he's pushing for her to be president!

It's really sad to see this. He knows he can't win without touting her virtues and so he sounds like she's the one running for president and that he's fully behind it. Why would he keep comparing her to Obama? He looks like an old sick person who knows he's being tossed aside and can't do anything about it because the GOP machine is bigger than him. Like he knows he's just a pawn and completely out of control of his own destiny.

Oh, right. That and his *again* stating that proximity of Alaska to Russia gives Palin foreign policy credentials. (Couldn't the reporter have asked McCain for any examples of her meeting with Russians to discuss relations?)
