Quinnipiac Polls: Ohio - Obama +5, Florida - McSame +7, Pennsylvania - Obama +3
CNN) — Barack Obama and John McCain each hold slim leads in a key battleground state while the two are statistically tied in a third, according to a new set of Quinnipiac polls released Thursday morning and conducted entirely after the Republican convention.

Obama holds a narrow lead in Ohio (49-44 percent), a state hard-hit by the nation's economic woes but one that hasn't voted Democratic since 1996 and one no Republican has lost and gone on to win the presidency.

McCain, on the other hand, is on top in Florida (50-43 percent), the state that handed him a decisive primary win in January which ultimately led to his party's nomination.

Both candidates are in a statistical dead heat in Pennsylvania, the state Obama lost handily to Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary but one that has narrowly voted Democratic in the last four presidential elections. The poll shows Obama on top 48-45 percent there, just inside the polls 3.1 percent margin of error.

All three surveys were conducted September 5-9 and come one day after the release of a set of surveys from CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corporation that showed tight races in four other battleground states: New Hampshire, Michigan, Virginia, and Missouri.

Those surveys showed slim advantages for Obama in New Hampshire and Michigan while McCain was narrowly on top in Virginia and Missouri.

Good news in my opinion. PA is a little worrisome, but the OH numbers are worth celebrating.

1. IMO, Obama needs to go after the Jewish vote in Fla.
The absolutely sick shit that Palin's one time church put out about Jews
"deserving it" because they had not accepted Jesus...made my skin fucking crawl.

3. I agree. The more the Jewish voters and the Catholic voters get to know
about mccain's VP the more they are going to realize how bad palin is

9. Yep, the Catholics, too....
...Palin is an RW religious wack job. She scares me to death with her views on the world and other belief systems.

17. What Do A of G's Think of Catholics?
What do Evangelicals of Sarah Palin's denomination think of Roman Catholics? I'm not asking about Evangelical Protestants in general but of Palin's denomination in particular? Isn't Palin a member of the Assemblies of God? Do members of Palin's sect think that Roman Catholics are "saved"? Do members of Palin's denomination think that Roman Catholics are even Christian?

Secular-minded DU'ers might not think that these questions have weight, but they DO have a LOT of importance to people of faith. So do the answers, and we ought to find out what those answers are, and put accurate answers out there for people to think about.

19. Not sure....
...but I am thinking that it may be sort of like that John Hagee asshole that McBush had to ditch after the endorsement by him.

20. Me, neither, BUT
I'm not sure either, but if it turns out that some/many/all members of Sarah Palin's sect believe that Roman Catholics are neither "saved" nor Christians, a lot of Roman Catholics mgiht get annoyed, even some of the more conservative ones.

21. I get the feeling that Sarah's religious beliefs are like this:
Believe EXACTLY as I do...or you ARE a total heathen condemned to hell.

So many fundies are like that ~~ and she seems to fit that same mold.

4. Very unlikely Obama is further ahead in OH than PA
Margin of error and all that, but that particular result is sure fishy.

16. I agree
At least about PA. Where I live in Montgomery County I see one McLoad sign for every ten Obama signs - and it's the Philly, Pittsburgh cities/burbs & Joe Biden's Scranton & it's vicinity that decide PA. From here on out I'm working my ass off in Pennsylvania. The fucking lame media and McLoad's gutter campaign have lit a fire under my ass. I'm a freelance artist with a lot of free time . . . I'm dedicating my life to Obama from now till Nov. I'm even going to juggle my bills to give to him all I can. Fuck you hard McTool.

6. Wow, these polls are all over the place.
Wasn't some other polls earlier this week showing Ohio for McLame by 7 points and FL tied? I feel we need Ohio more as we have Dems in charge there now and i don't trust FL.

8. Until Quinnipiac releases the party identification of their sample
This poll should be seriously questioned. The latest scheme by the corporate media is to use polls that either over sample repukes or weigh repuke answers more heavily than Dem answers.

The CIA published fake polls to sway voters in Venezuela and Costa Rico. The Corporate media is doing it in America as a matter of routine.

Most polls used by the corporate media are designed to make public opinion NOT report public opinion.

14. These polls are confusing
One day OH looks more in play, the next day FL does. Encouraging that we are never always far behind in either.

18. Remember in 04'? We needed two out of the three: OH, FL, PA. We're leading in two.
Obama is leading all Kerry states, plus Iowa and New Mexico.

If he wins Ohio and Pennsylvania, it's over by a long shot.

Not to mention promising signs we MIGHT win Colorado, Montana and Virginia.
