POLLS: FL- McLame up 50/43. OH - Obama up 49/44. PA - Obama up 48/45
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 06:19 AM by jefferson_dem
The new Quinnipiac University swing state poll finds that Palin is helping McCain pull away from his Democrat rival in Florida and is narrowing the gap in Pennsylvania.

Florida: McCain 50, Obama 43

Ohio: Obama 49, McCain 44

Pennsylvania: Obama 48, McCain 45

Dates conducted: Sept. 5-9. Error margin: 3.1 points (2.7 points in Ohio).

9. OK, merely my opinon but
am guessing that Palin scares the bejesus out of the senior folk of the Hebrew persuasion, who see her as some kind of extremist... I wonder what the Florida papers are saying about Palin. A lot of these people spend a lot of time indoors, get a daily newspaprer and watch the nightly news.

3. OK, what?!
Of course it's great to see Obama up in Ohio by a significant margin, but this greatly clashes with the last poll taken there. The Florida poll, of course, goes in the opposite direction.

6. It's obvious...this race is a total jump ball right now.
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 06:00 AM by jefferson_dem
I wish Obama had the commanding lead he did a month ago but not so. Effectively, the race starts now. Whoever runs the better campaign from now till November 4 will win. EDIT: No bold statement there. :)

7. Agree 100%
But if the OH poll is accurate I don't think the Republicants can win without it... There are paths for us to win without it though...

17. Definitely not his strong suit
He gets testy, which is I think one reason why the Obama keeps floating the temperament issue out there. The extended primary had many benefits for Obama at the end of the day. If he was starting from scratch in PA and OH, I don't think he'd have a chance, plus he debated Hillary more times than I can remember, and she's one of the best.

14. He did not have a commanding lead a month ago
In fact he has never had a commanding lead. He had a good bump coming out of the convention reaching the 50% level nationally, McCain has yet to do that. Give it 2-3 weeks after all this stuff plays out. I predict the drip, drip, drip on Palin will erode any gains that McCain has made. As long as the media does it's job.

4. M$M wants you to think that it is a close race...
when it actually is not. Obama is beating McCorpse's ass and the M$M knows it.

Now, why would the M$M want you to believe that this is a close race? Just think about it for a second..

11. I'd rather see Ohio in play, rather than Florida

Florida scares me with the absence of a paper trail in many of the machines.
Ohio has supposedly cleaned up its act a bit. So, I'll take it as good news that
Ohio will play a more important role in this election.

PA is scary though. We need to get our numbers up there. We need PA.

23. I still think that PA is beng skewed.
There are now > 1,000,000 more Democrats registered than repukes - the first time that Dems outnumber repukes. If these are "likely voter" polls, then they are not taking into account the large influx of newly registered voters nor will they reflect that the large metro areas alone consistently throw the state into the blue column when the turnouts there are high.

PA went for Kerry in 2004, Gore in 2000, and Clinton in 1996 & 1992 - that is the last 4 Presidential elections - 16 years. The state re-elected a Dem governor in 2006 when these same sorts of polls had Lynn Swann the repuke, running neck and neck with Fast Eddie until Fast Eddie whipped Swann's ass 60-40. Similarly in the 2006 Senatorial election, Democrat Bob Casey beat Rick Sand-bag-em 59-41. Specter seems to keep his seat thanks to Philadelphia votes and his Pro-choice stance.

Also in 2006, PA booted more repukes from the House than any other state - 4 seats switched from R to D.

It is so frustrating that the M$M and pollsters are muddying the waters about PA. Note that the 2006 results have nothing to do with any Limpballs "Operation Chaos" and since then, this state hasn't suddenly gone "red" overnight again.

She said there were at least 100 people(all seniors) lining the halls and offices looking to volunteer.

We can take Florida folks.

24. Wow! Thank you for posting this..
I took a quick glance earlier at the poll (before my coffee, I'll add!), and thought it was McCain up in Ohio over Obama. I am SO freaking glad to see I was wrong. Yay for my coffee and yay for Ohio! :toast:

27. Assuming
McCain does not do better in Michigan which seems to be the most recent talk, or assuming Obama doesn't take Florida or Ohio away from McCain, I think the election is ultimately going to come down to New Hampshire, Virginia, or Colorado
