FOX airs McCain ad before YouTube yanks it for copyright infringement
http://www.newshounds.us/2008/09/10/fox_airs_mccain_ad_before_youtube_yanks_it_for_copyright_infringement.php

First McCain was using artists' songs without their permission and got called out for the liberty. Today his campaign released a hastily put-together web ad capitalizing on the "lipstick" diversion, but YouTube yanked it almost immediately because the McCain camp used footage of Katie Couric without permission. FOX and Friends got to air the video this morning 9/10/08 before it was yanked (the McCain camp sent a nice thank you card, I'm sure) which you can see below.

TVNewser reported that

"The clip is from one of Couric's Reporter's Notebooks back in June when she criticized the media for some of the coverage of Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign. The McCain ad, which was hastily produced for the Web, implies Couric is being critical of the Obama campaign. A more complete quote from Couric's June Notebook:

"Like her or not, one of the great lessons of that campaign is the continued and accepted role of sexism in American life, particularly in the media."

> Update: A CBS News spokesperson tells TVNewser: "CBS News does not endorse any candidate in the presidential race. Any use of CBS personnel in political advertising that suggests the contrary is misleading."

Heavens, the McCain camp is being misleading? Mercy! Whoda thunk the "straight talk maverick" would stoop so low?

Anyway, the FOX segment went into yet another discussion (I haven't counted them all but I think there are at least 8 references/discussions of this faux scandal in 90 minutes) and once again Brian Kilmeade was the voice of reason. I know! The three argued, with Doocy and Carlson taking positions that Obama was stupid and politically inept to use the phrase so soon after Sarah Palin had identified herself (per Doocy) as "the lipstick candidate" and Kilmeade insisting that Obama is not the kind of man to call a woman a pig. Good for you, Brian!

They read some viewer emails (as they did all morning) and natch, all three were indignant because they misconstrued the comments. What came first, the stupidity or watching FOX and Friends religiously? We'll never now.

Anyway, they got to hammer Obama some more and play the ad (seven minutes after it was released - did McCain know it would be yanked and zip it over to FOX to get it seen before it was?)

2. All I have to say is I want to meet McCain's top camp advisors and shake their hands.
These baffoons have screwed up their candidates camp. I think he will lose tons of money by the suing and reprimands he keeps getting into. Don't repubs know anything about intellectual property?! Idiots. At least the people had a chance to see the stupidity of the McCain camp before it was yanked out. It was broadcasted throughout all of the news shows.

3. It's the same old Republicans
They only believe in laws and rules for everybody else. They don't comply with laws. Decency is some vague concept that they wish to base laws on so they can break them with impunity.

BRING THEM DOWN!!!

4. MSNBC played the ad too, on Hardball.
But Tweety actually called out the Republican tool that was on and made him admit he did not think Obama called Palin a pig. He also kept pushing him to say McCain believe that since he paid for the ad.
