McCain lied about FactCheck.org
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 04:52 PM by cynatnite
So now John McCain is lying about what independent watchdogs have said, or haven't said, about Barack Obama. McCain just put out an ad claiming that FactCheck.org called Obama's attacks on Palin "completely false"..."misleading." Only problem? FactCheck.org said that quote about someone else, not Obama, and in fact, FactCheck.org says Obama's criticisms of Palin have been accurate.

http://www.americablog.com/2008/09/newsweek-mccain-lied-about-factcheckorg.html

A McCain-Palin ad has FactCheck.org calling Obama's attacks on Palin "absolutely false" and "misleading." That's what we said, but it wasn't about Obama.

Our article criticized anonymous e-mail falsehoods and bogus claims about Palin posted around the Internet. We have no evidence that any of the claims we found to be false came from the Obama campaign.

The McCain-Palin ad also twists a quote from a Wall Street Journal columnist. He said the Obama camp had sent a team to Alaska to "dig into her record and background." The ad quotes the WSJ as saying the team was sent to "dig dirt."

10. Sadly, I don't think so.
Factcheck.org came up in 2004 too and it didn't make much difference.

People just assume that factcheck will support what their candidate is saying. Very few people are tenacious or curious enough to actually do the research.

4. "What have McCain & Failin lied about?
then just have the micromachine man list the lies for 30 seconds. End with "do you really want to elect a pathological liar as your next president? I am Barack Obama, and I will not lie to the American People"

thanks for posting it

factcheck.org is mostly RW trash, btw

what is already apparent is that John McCain is running the sleaziest, most dishonest and race-baiting campaign of our lifetimes. So let's stopped being shocked and awed by every new example of it. It is undignified. What can we do? We've got a dangerously reckless contender for the presidency and a vice presidential candidate who distinguished her self by abuse of office even on the comparatively small political stage of Alaska. They've both embraced a level of dishonesty that disqualifies them for high office. Democrats owe it to the country to make clear who these people are. No apologies or excuses. If Democrats can say at the end of this campaign that they made clear exactly how and why these two are unfit for high office they can be satisfied they served their country.

6. Can we just have a headline that says
McCain lied about . . . and then you can fill in the blank with just about anything he says.

As of now, he's liked more times in this election cycle than George Bush has in eight years -- and I never thought that would be possible.

7. boycott her interview for one
stop feeing into the media frenzy about HER (not her background, policies, lack of qualifications, etc).

Ignore them until they deal with issues. (don't ignore the lies they are spreading, but don't give them the agenda of the day or the narrative for the day - address and dismiss.)

they want to turn her into their "star"-- and make this about personality. the more people who tune in out of curiosity, the more they can sell her "deference" demands to the "news".

they are doing this like a desperate child who doesn't want to go to bed.

boycott.

I know I'm being repetitive, but that's because I'm really irritated by this blatant manipulation of the media and I don't want to feed into it.

12. Keep working it, John. Make enemies of EVERYBODY.
It's not like the factcheck has always been all that kind to Dems, either.
