Big Media has really accelerated the pace of attacks against Barack Obama while increasingly turning a blind eye to the repeated lies of the McCain campaign, including the infamous Bridge to Nowhere that Palin supported. We also have a great reluctance of Big Media to specifically inquire as to what difference are there between Mccain's policies and Bush's. Finally, as noted in prior posts, the McCain campaign has taken to not even mentioning that they are Republicans like Bush.
HOWEVER, despite this elaborate disinformation campaign, Obama has not been blown out. The McCain campaign and Big media have begun to complain loudly about "smears" on the blogosphere and the internet.
I think the great battle of 2008 is whether grass roots and alternative media can prevail against the generally unbeatable combination of the GOP/Big Media? I have repeatedly stated since the primaries that this election will answer the question of whether still have a meaningful democracy or whether it has largely been lost by the control of media by just 5 large corporations.
If Obama's campaign is not successful, then I think in the future Democrats may start to sell out even more to big corporations in order to try to placate opposition to their candidacies. For example, Obama's opposition to further media consolidation probably clearly disqualified him in the eyes of Big Media.
