Univ. of Vermont Student Fair today... just thought I'd share...

I stopped by the fair this morning and in addition to the many vendors, student groups, etc. - There were also booths for the College Republicans and College Democrats - seated right next to each other.

The Democratic Table had a pretty cool homemade poster with pictures and info of all the high level candidates on them - Barack, Biden, Welsh for Congress, Symington for Governor. They had candidate bumperstickers, pins, posters, flyers, a meeting sign up, free candy, etc.

The Republican table consisted of two guys, approximately middle-aged, sitting at an empty table with a single sheet of paper on it for signing up. NOTHING ELSE.

Every other booth at the fair had some sort of signage, info to hand out, or giveaways like t-shirts, stickers, bags, food, candy. They had an empty table.

The Democratic Table had steady traffic and I actually had to wait in a short line to get my stickers. The Republican Table did not have a single visitor for the entire time I was there.

The best part is, the Republican guys were talking shit to the poor kid working the Democratic table and others who stopped by. Their jabber centered mostly on Hillary Clinton! "You know... across the lake in New York are pretty upset that Hillary's not the nominee and are considering McCain, especially with the addition of Palin..." "Hillary supporters are coming to McCain in droves!"

Overall student consensus... NO SALE. Lots of eye rolling and snarky sarcasm. They are in for a long rough day.
