3. If this is real, my blood pressure just went back down to normal.
If Obama can keep it close in a place like West Virginia (motto "No Interviews Please"), we're in pretty good shape nationwide.

11. I Would Think So Too

I would think that West Virginians would despise Palin on sight. They can't stand artifice.

7. Mccain camp in meltdown...unhinged
They walked right into Obama's "Lipstick Trap" and are in the process of getting beat bloody.

Clinton voters in places like W. Virginia moving fast toward Obama as Mccain camp's non-policies and phony campaign make themselves clear.

Mccain camp in chaos.

9. YES!!! PLEEEEEASE DEPLOY RESOURCES

I have been thinking about WV for days. Yesterday, the news item was posted here that Obama was opening up seven field offices, and now this - - only a five-point deficit (with no attention paid to the state by the campaign whatsoever), and 17% undecided. This state's five EVs may be ripe for the taking, and it's incredibly cheap to blanket with ads and visit.

In 2004, Kerry ignored the state and lost by 97,000 votes.

In 2000, other than sending Bill Clinton on a visit there in the last week or two, Gore ignored the state and lost by just under 41,000 votes, despite the fact that he has portrayed as anathema to the coal industry.

Clinton won the state twice, by roughly 94,000 votes in 1996 and about 90,000 votes in 1992.

As most of you know, WV has two Democratic Senators (including a Rockefeller, for crying out loud) and a recently-elected Democratic governor, the former SoS. Generally, West Virginians vote for people with whom they can personally identify and who they feel understands their problems - - not based on party affiliation.

I think that Obama should ask Bill and Hillary to go there for a couple of days each, run some ads focusing on the economy and tailored specifically to WV, and then organize a two-day bus trip including Biden (who should play there like a charm) with as many rallies and meet-and-greets along the way as they can fit in. How hard can it be to flip 50,000 votes in a relatively tiny media market?? WV's 5 EVs means, with the Kerry states + IA and NM, a win (based on a 269-269 tie).

Let's do this!!! Come on, Barack!

10. That's doable. Send Joe and Hillary.
And, if that goes well, send Barack.
