24. Barack Obama responds to the latest phony outrage from McCain camp--'the lipstick on a pig' squeal
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 10:12 AM by flpoljunkie
Obama said the American people 'want real answers' to the problems we face, 'not distractions, diversions, nor phony outrage.' And later, 'Enough is enough!'

"You know who ends up losing at the end of the day? It's not the Democratic candidate or the Republican candidate, it's you, the American people...I love this country too much to let them take over another election with lies, and phony outrage, and Swift Boat politics. These are serious times and they call for a serious debate." - Barack Obama

I love it when he shows 'righteous indignation.' The McCain camp has sunk to a new low. With his hire of Rove's disciple, Steve Schmidt, McCain has shown he will do anything to win--no matter how sleazy or untrue.

18. This is how we will win!!!
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 09:55 AM by TwoSparkles
We're right on the issues and we're right on policy.

However, it is so essential that Obama come out swinging and not take the huge
pile of malarkey that Republicans dish out. Republicans count on Democrats taking
the higher road and appealing to the "rational" side of voters. Meanwhile, the
Republicans always win the debate, because their attacks and evisceration of Democrats
appear to neuter and emasculate the Democrats.

The Republicans count on us not fighting back.

Obama is fighting back and I am so relieved that he does this. When the Republicans
act like bullies and we don't fight back--they win. However, when you stand up to
a bully, don't back down and call out their weak, lame, empty behavior as the ramblings
of a bunch of paper tigers---you not only make them look bad--you make yourself look
smart and resourceful.

We need to put the screws to these people and hammer, hammer, hammer with twice the force
that they give it. We've got the truth on our side. Cleverly and assertively hitting
back will win us this election.

Awesome!

19. Sweet!! I was SO afraid he would apologize to the outrage addicts!
For God's sake, Karl Rove, even the AP wrote that McCain used the SAME damn phrase in the primary, AND HE was talking about Hillary Clinton's health plan. Considering Obama was talking McCain and Bush -- and was CLEARLY not mentioning Palin, then the faux outrage needs to be called out. Good for him! A fighter!!

Hey, it's not OUR fault that the McCain campaign seems to overidentify with the pig comment regarding HIS choice of VP. They just shouldn't project their own insecurities on everyone else. Suppose we can't use the term "pig in a poke" now to describe the horrors of what their campaign is dealing with while the public vetts their candidate FOR THEM.

This needs to be on the lips of EVERY single one of Our surrogates when they go on these news shows.

Spare me your phoney outrage, let's talk about the Economy, the War and how McCain will be nothing but More of The Same of George Bushs failed policies that have devastated America for the last 8 years- Let's talk about THAT.

30. Best response to anything I have seen done by Obama
Fox News is now gulty of being in the Tank for Palin.

The MSM took Sean Hannity's bait last night and mindlessly followed
just a like sheep. Where have the Howard K. Smith's, the Murrows
the Harry Resoners, Huntley- Brinkley.

I give Sean Credit he is a RW Commentator--he has every right to
play fast and loose with the truth. This is what advocates do.
By the Same token, he cannot criticize people at MSNBC who may
do the same.

I do know that reporters and anchors both at Fox and MSM, Cable
Channels have different responsibilities than Sean.

It is telling that not one person flashed a clip0 of Govenor
Hucabee telling Sean he was wrong.

How many bothered to show the clip the Of McCain making the
Lipstick on a pig about Hillary?

Are they going to navel gaze as now a contributor at Fox News
says Sarah Palin owns Lipstick remarks. Sorry Buster, I have
used that expression when Palin was kid.

Fox can now admit they are advocates for Palin and evern
the score.

Yes where have all the real journalists gone.

Yes Obama, we are facing Crisises in this country beyond belief
and we have a GOP trying to distract us, and a Media too shallow
so they are willing to help with the distraction.

They are so shallow, they do not know sexism if it jumped up and
bit them. Likewise, they permit too many people to yell racism.

Wjhere have all the real journalists gone?

33. here's a link to what Obama said

"Enough!" Obama said. "I don’t care what they say about me. But I love this country too much for them to take over another election with lies, and phony outrage and Swift Boat politics. Enough is enough. These are serious times and they call for a serious debate about where to take the nation.

"Spare me the phony outrage, spare me the phony talk about change, we have real problems in this country right now," he said. "The American people are looking to us for answers. Not distractions, not diversions…they want real answers. That's the kind of debate I intend to have, because that's the kind of debate the American people deserve."

34. Having FINALLY seen the footage of the original comment
I must say, it makes the McCain camp look BOTH stupid and petty.

You could not misunderstand what he was saying - that McCain trying to wrap his old policies with the "change" theme was lipstick on a pig OR old fish in today's newspaper. He could not have been clearer. And he even offered 2 different analogies to be double dog clearer.

So they could not have been stupider or more cynical
