MSNBC Poll: Do you think Obama went too far with his "lipstick on a pig"
remark? Fucked up poll that bashes Obama either way. I voted despite that. First online poll I've ever voted in.

40. It's a push poll for sure. Either way it gives credence to Obama calling
Palin a pig, when he did no such thing.

19. I don't think so, Jeff. I took the remark in the context of what he said.
And saying that McCain was just dressing up old policies and trying to palm them off as new is like putting lipstick on a pig. To me, it is a perfectly apt way to describe what McCain/Palin are doing. That, too, can be considered "rough and tumble."

30. While I completely agree with the stupidity of the
question, it gives us some pretty solid information. To whit: This is the game. Obama didn't foul. Why is she complaining. Implicit in the numbers: people think that maybe she doesn't have what it takes to be in the bigs and she should be sent back down to the minors. Remember his response to attacks: "I've been called worse things on a basketball court."

With that said, everything said about the poll being crap, I agree with.

Fucking fascist media.

Too bad they didn't include a Mu option.

(Mu, among other things, is the correct answer to the loaded question "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" In that context, mu means "Your question cannot be answered because it depends on incorrect assumptions.")

48. My letter to MSNBC
Hi everyone,

With all due respect, your vote re:" Did Obama go too far with the lipstick on a pig comment" is completely misleading. As you WELL know, Obama wasn't referring to Palin when he said this. Do you guys not watch the entire clips anymore before you report? I know you are not that careless, so what is this vote about? It assumes he made the remark about her and then asks if it went too far. That is an utter failure in logic, as your premise has been debunked by the facts.

Why aren't you asking the more serious question of whether McCain's attack on Obama's child welfare law to protect children from child molesters is fair? In his ad, McCain says Obama is teaching sex-ed to kindergarteners. Is that a fair and accurate assessment of the bill?

Or how about a vote about whether the judge was right when he told Palin to stop abusing a child by slandering and harassing the child's father?

Those are far more serious issues. It is a real shame that once again, we have media complicity in turning this into an idiocracy instead of a democracy.

I remain ever hopeful that our media will begin to re-establish their credibility after the last 8 years of flat out propaganda. And I say this with all due respect, as I am sure it is difficult to compete with the pandering and appeasement of Fox and even CNN.

Here's hoping the American people wise up and take this election seriously. It seems to me as if the fate of the world rests upon this one, so I don't find hysteria over distractions which are clearly deliberate dodging of the issues amusing in the least. I'm sure you have many anchors and journalists on board who agree with me on that and feel humiliated by having to pander to this nonsense.

I wish you all the best in your quest for journalistic integrity, as I am quite sure one day we will look back on these days with a vivid awareness of how the media was complicit in the ruination of this great country. I don't mean this as a jab at MSNBC, but more as a sad comment on the state of our democracy, which depends upon an informed electorate and free press to thrive. I am aware that MSNBC is the only cable news channel offering any sort of digging and vetting of the candidates at this point. I do wish you would live up to those intentions, as you stand out from the crowd as a beacon of sanity right now.

Thank you for your time,
