2. what wouldn't I give to have that on video....
It sums up the whole bag of shit they've been feeding people for decades. It is an OFFICIAL part of the neo-con handbook. Lying to the people is considered part of the method to achieve Empire.

7. It was a response to a question during an interview.

He was asked why he had lied about his professed ignorance on Iran Contra and the events leading up to it, so there may be an audio recording and perhaps a video somewhere.

6. It was after the election, not before.
Lies rarely sink a politician before an election.

14. Hello? After which election?
I'm talking about when he ran again as an incumbent against Clinton in 1992, when that statement came back to torpedo him.

8. They wouldn't work if the liars were called out
The longer Obama's campaign delays calling McLame and Failin LIARS, the more they will lie. Calling them "untruthful" is not enough!

9. It's not that simple
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 07:01 AM by Bonn1997
It depends on which statement is heard and remembered by more people: The lie (which is often juicy and exciting) or the response to the lie. (Someone pointed this out on Air America yeseterday; I can't take full credit.)

10. Randi Rhodes used to tell a story about the word "Lie"
Years ago she was in Washington and bumped into Joe Biden. It could have been during the 2004 campaign or after -- I can't really recall, as she told the story a long time ago. Anyway, she confronted Biden and asked him point blank "Why don't you just call them LIARS?" (She was referring to Bush and Cheney.) And he answered her something like - "why do you ask me to do the hardest thing?" I never understood why he thought this was such a hard thing to do, but now that he is VP candidate, he really needs to change his mind on that.

12. I think "dishonorable" is actually better than "liars."
It sounds more respectful, but every single military family will see it as fighting words and know that Obama is not going to be McWhore's little bitch, no way, no how.

15. Either one is okay.
But the important thing is that Obama can't let them get away with this, or the lies will only get worse.
