One of the scariest things about Junior is that he just accepts what someone tells him as long as it fits his ideology.
Actions of McBush indicate that all he cares about is being elected. As long as something fits his perception of being elected it is ok.
This leads to the non-vetted VP, speeches where he appears to not even know what he has said and wildly inconsistent answers.
I think he is also trying to purge some ghosts of his father and grandfather's achievements. Therefore once he gets elected his work is done. He can retire, even though he is president. And Cindi will have the glory she seems to want so desperately.

Apparently she was shunned after her marriage to McCain since Nancy Reagan loved Carol McCain so much, as did a lot of the Republican establishment.

I understand that is why she stayed in Arizona while John was in Washington.
