Excuse me while I go shove my head in the Oven.
I don't get it, how can Obama have this slip of the tongue today after he has fought the Right Wing smears for so long on not being a Muslim. Out of all the slips he could possibly have, why this one? I am now going to have to go bang my head against the wall also known as my mom re-explaining that Obama is not a Muslim. For the love of God, how could this happen.

27. Actually, it wasn't a slip, and what he was saying made sense...
See below. What Obama was saying was that, even if McCain himself didn't speak about Obama's "Muslim faith," if his campaign though Obama should be held responsible for any progressive blog rumor-mongering about Palin's family, then McCain should likewise take responsibility for the crap those on his side were stirring up as well. Stephanopoulus, unhelpfully, chose to interrupt with "you mean your Christian faith," which made Obama stop for a moment before trying again to explain what he was saying.

26. It wasn't even a gaffe...
He was talking about how some on the right were branding him as a Muslim, even if McCain himself wasn't. The only reason there's any confusion about what he was saying was because Steph misunderstood and tried to "correct" him, thus cutting him off. What Obama was saying was that, even if McCain himself hadn't spoken about Obama's "Muslim faith," many on the right had, and if McCain was going to claim that Obama was responsible for whatever the progressive blogs might have said about Palin's family, McCain should himself take responsibility for the smears that similar groups on the right were spreading about him.

6. GET OUT OF THAT OVEN -- It's electric - it won't work. :-)
The only place I've even seen it mentioned is here, and someone posted a YouTube vid of it. No big deal. Those who get in a tizzy are those who probably believed it all along anyway. And those people are lost to us and have been since the beginning.

This post is sarcasm. The worst form of humor. Similar to all right wing talking points, all sarcastic fluff that will end up in the sewer of life.

Drunk posting end/ Hopefully I made some sense.

13. so which is it
was Rev. Wright a Muslim pastor? All we heard for months was this story about a supposed black radical christian theology. Right-wing talking heads, when called out, admit he isn't a muslim. So what's the big deal?

The MSM decided long ago that they wouldn't allow the right to get away with this lie. A gaffe won't cut it.

Steffie either thought it was one, or tried to make it one, but Obama corrected him.

This will have no play outside of the core of the usual idiots. And Barack doesn't have their votes.

23. Does anyone have a transcript of that part of the conversation...?
All I can see is the clip of him saying "John McCain hasn't talked about my Muslim faith, and..." Steph corrects him with "Christian faith," and Obama echoes "...Christian faith."

I sure hope there's some context around here that explains it differently...because, taken on its own, it sure looks like a Freudian slip.

24. Forget it...I found one...
And you're right -- it wasn't a gaffe. He was trying to talk about the spreading of rumors about him being a Muslim. If Steph hadn't interrupted him with what he thought Obama meant, it wouldn't have been an issue.

STEPHANOPOULOS: You mention your Christian faith. Yesterday you took off after the Republicans for suggesting you have Muslim connections. Just a few minutes ago, Rick Davis, John McCain's campaign manager, said they've never done that. This is a false and cynical attempt to play victim.

OBAMA: You know what? I mean, these guys love to throw a rock and hide their hand. The...

STEPHANOPOULOS: The McCain campaign has never suggested you have Muslim connections.

OBAMA: No, no, no. But the -- I don't think that when you look at what is being promulgated on Fox News, let's say, and Republican commentators who are closely allied to these folks...

STEPHANOPOULOS: But John McCain said that's wrong.

OBAMA: Now, well, look. Listen. You and I both know that the minute that Governor Palin was forced to talk about her daughter, I immediately said that's off limits. And...

STEPHANOPOULOS: But John McCain said the same thing about questioning your faith.

OBAMA: And what was the first thing the McCain's campaign went out and did? They said, look, these liberal blogs that support Obama are out there attacking Governor Palin. Let's not play games. What I was suggesting -- you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you're absolutely right that that has not come...

STEPHANOPOULOS: Christian faith.

OBAMA: ... my Christian faith. Well, what I'm saying is that he hasn't suggested...

STEPHANOPOULOS: Has connections, right.

OBAMA: ... that I'm a Muslim. And I think that his campaign's upper echelons have not, either. What I think is fair to say is that, coming out of the Republican camp, there have been efforts to suggest that perhaps I'm not who I say I am when it comes to my faith -- something which I find deeply offensive, and that has been going on for a pretty long time.

prompted him, Obama explained that hs meant false allegations. I don't think many will touch it, other than the knuckle draggers. It would have been better if it had not been said in those exact words, but it's not going to be a big deal.

29. Actually, if Steph HADN'T prompted him, it would have been better...
He would have finished his original reply, and it would have been clear that he was talking about "my 'Muslim faith'" as the lies Republicans were telling about him. By stopping and "correcting" him, Steph forced Obama to stop and start the reply all over again, leaving a hanging half-finished sentence that could be used as a right-wing soundbite.
