I know Keith was pissed about the 9/11 clip before McCain's speech, and Matthews and Buchanan squabbled, and then there's the whole Joe Scarborough element, but to which squabbles are you referring?

41. So many to choose from!
LOL, just IMO Olberman's ego has gotten way too big & Matthews was always egotistical, so they've turned the channel into a little power match for "MSNBC's Biggest Star". I don't watch MSNBC, but CNN actually did a story today on all the back-biting & infighting on that channel - the story also showed a clip of John Stewart comparing MSNBC to the "Lord of the Flies" during an interview w/Brian Williams. Brian Williams looked very embarrassed trying to defend MSNBC to Stewart. Not good publicity!

Now, I don't know if McCain gives him the funny feeling down his leg like Obama, but perhaps if McCain campaigns in a flight suit he will.

Also of his sports reporting. I liked it when he was with Dan Patrick.

I vastly prefer him to Matthews. Matthews is just unprofessional on many levels. Reading the transcripts of his play by play of Bush's landing on the carrier makes me toss.

it was about Matthews, Olberman, etc. and that they were in melt down. So, I'm not shocked at what you posted. I didn't listen to the piece and I have no idea when during the coverage these last two weeks these two guys went at each other or anything. I will not watch their coverage if that's the case. I'm waiting for the day they kick Keith offa the air because the right wing is demanding it. Then that network can go to hell.

...this is the main way to get KO back on the anchor chair. Maybe it was voluntary, I did start to see some burnout towards the end of the Republic convention in both of them. I am sure that Countdown will still be on, and KO will serve in another function in the elections and the debates. But I am going to get some phone calls, snail mails and e-mails out in the morning.

52. Election night? No Keith Olbermann on election night?
Drudge is probably more wrong than right so there's no need for immediate concern until the story is confirmed.

But dropping Matthews and Olbermann on ELECTION NIGHT ITSELF in favor of a crappy reporter who often displays his bias towards the Republican party to me is shocking. If true, I would suggest we deluge MSNBC with letters (not e-mails that can be easily erased, U.S. Post Office dispatched letters with signatures).

I have already sent emails. I am also going to do what I always do when I hear disturbing news - I am making another donation tonight to Obama.

Maybe I am getting old and sentimental, but I miss Tim Russert's enthusiam a lot right now. Yeah, chris and keith have flaws. Yeah, they were getting a bit bitchy. But whatever - I still wanted to see familar faces at election time, and hear the comments that I didn't always agree with. Anything but David Gregory's blandness - I don't watch him now. I sure as shit won't watch him trying election coverage.

Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 09:07 PM by DemocracyInaction
For Christ sakes if they had the top viewership on Primary Nights why would they slit their throats and fall to the bottom of the feeding chain when the big things are coming down the pike. No network would intelligently make that decision BUT one that was ordered to be corporate masters, even if it meant bad revenues, would. This is a republican job done on this network (like threatening to withhold advertisements, etc.) because they hate NBC the most. Started after Andre Mitchell, etc...remember?

62. They aren't being dropped!!! KO & CM will be analysts, not anchors!
From the NYT:

After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.
