Larry Sabato: Polls will show significant shift towards McCain
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 04:01 PM by Cush
NOTE: not playing the role of chicken little, just passing along some info that I've read on a few blogs to prepare for the next few days

http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/9/7/144337/1754#commenttop

I think Sabato is one of the best in the business, fairly Democrat-friendly for the most part; he was on about an hour ago. He stated that there will be polling coming out between Monday and Tuesday which shows significant movement toward McCain. Today's Gallup and Rasmussen results may just be the beginning.

My hope is that some in the media as well as bloggers do what they should have done from the beginning: just leave Sarah Palin alone. They are turning her into Joan of Arc, and the GOP is reaping the rewards.

1. Larry is fair and knows his stuff.
McCain may get a couple more days of good numbers but it will pass. There are just too many factors in Obama's favor. Hang in there it will get better folks!

2. Counsels patience...
Of course it very well could also be that McCain is seeing his support rise not only in red states that are less important at this juncture but also in purple states that are more important. Indeed, it will be worth waiting a couple of weeks to see state-by-state polling, which tends to lag behind the national numbers, to see if McCain has received a meaningful bounce in the states he could use such a bounce. But if all this week did was ingratiate McCain with the base, moving up his numbers in deep red states but not in the purple states, this national movement won't be particularly meaningful.

3. Monday and Tuesday are only two days out of the coming sixty.

And what the media needs to do is be pressured by the public into telling the truth about her. She's the one telling lies--hardly the stuff of sainthood. And another thing--all polls should be taken with a pillar of salt.

GET THEE BEYOND ME, POLLS! UNCLEAN! UNCLEAN!!!

15. he does his job quite well, pretending to be neutral.
in the clutch, he always swings toward the pugs

FWIW, an old GF went to UVA with him, hung around with him, and always said he was a conservative creep, that nobody really liked him. we used to make fun of him all the time when he appeared on the scene. she could NOT believe that anyone could ever take him seriously

She's not an innocent little lamb.

If Palin can't handle the scrutiny and the pressure, she doesn't belong in that huge political arena that is the POTUS race.

I say crush her and her fuckin' fundie base like a bug.

12. Polling right after a convention is not statistically significant.
Wait til later in the week to see if there is any bounce left. Maybe even later until Palin is vetted more by the national media.

14. Bullshit - Sarah Palin is not just an accessory
We can't just let Sarah Palin slide in. She needs to be exposed, and people need to seriously consider that she could very well end up as president, in the not so unlikely event that McCain dies in office.
