If something happened to McCain and he had to drop out of the race,
would the Reps bump up Sarah to the Prez slot, or get somebody else in?

The reason I'm asking is because I just read a DUer say they were watching a McCain speech, and his eyes don't look right. So...my mind started wandering.

So what do you think would happen in such an instance?

3. It would be great if they did pick Palin, but they would probably go with Mittens.

5. Does anyone know the procedural guidelines of such an event?
I've been wondering the same for months, as I only see McCain as a placeholder.

6. We need to hope it doesn't happen
Because Romney would be a more formidable opponent than McSame. He's younger, more intelligent.

9. Oh Jesus God we don't want a Mittens/Barracuda ticket ...
They BOTH LIE AS WELL AS THE BUSHES .. scary. At
least BombBomb is a bit lamer when he's fudging ...
The other two are (to quote Randi) world class,
champeeeeeen LIARS.

7. You kidding? Palin would have Romney's footprints on her back, he'd
run that fast to replace McCain.

8. If he drops out for health reasons,
I think Palin will not be able to hold up in a campaign against Obama/Biden. I think they will send her home to Alaska for some trumped up reason and Dick Cheney will probably select himself as the candidate. Just kidding! Actually, I don't know how they would select a replacement but I'm sure the greys that run all things RNC aren't stupid enough to let her run for President.

12. Until the election, it's up to the Rethugs completely ...
They'd have to have another meeting/convention (maybe not
with all the speeches and balloons of the last one) but
the BombBomb delegates would have to decide who to go for
in place of their guy. After having seen Barracuda's
appeal, I doubt they'd boot her from the ticket, but
would just put someone else at the top.

Hopefully this won't happen because BombBomb is "the
weakest link" at this point. I don't know if Barracuda
would serve with Mittens (considering she probably sees
him as a heathen, non-Christian) but having him instead
of Grampy McSame at the top would certainly blunt our
advantage on the "change" argument.

13. There's got to be party procedures for something like that.
Surely they can't just put someone in his place when they had primaries and a convention to nominate, etc.

I would think that wouldn't be true for either party.
