John McCain has peaked. I predict he will never do this well in the polls again
So the polls are tied or give McSame a slight lead? BFD, I predicted this last week. We should have all expected this.

1. Republicans had a week to beat the shit out of us with 40 Million people watching. Of course they are going to get a bump.

2. People still don't know who Palin is so her ratings can only go down especially when independents learn she is a bible thumping, book banning, corrupt, lying sack of shit.

3. The Dems have been out the last two days fighting back HARD getting in some good jabs on earmarks etc.

4. I predict Obama will beat McCain soundly in the debates. McCain just isn't that good and I think the Dems have been saving some whoppers to drop on him while everyone is watching.

5. I think Palin will do OK in her debate with Biden but all the stuff she has been saying about the bridge to nowhere etc. will then be completely shown to be BS and she will then look like just another politician with a pretty face.

6. As long as the economy is in poor shape Obama is in the driver seat. History has shown this again and again.

7. A lot more states are in play this time. We are currently at around 260 in electoral votes and another 11 or 12 states are very close. We just have to win 1 of those states to put us over the top this time.

8. There are a lot of cards Obama's campaign hasn't played yet that they could if they have to including showing McCain has turned into a Neo-Con and would be a trigger happy dick head getting us into all kinds of wars.

9. The base still does not like McCain that much and voting for the VP may not inspire them quite enough to show up.

1. I fear...
We might not be out of the woods yet on McCreep's bounce until Wed or Thurs.

Here's a good blog entry -- http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/9/7/95735/44289

2. All good points! #10 is important
Do not underestimate the Obama Campaign they always have a plan and the plan is always strategic.

Palin is going to play the girl card too many times. She already has and many Repug men and women are turned off by it.

Remember New Democratic Registered voters is outpacing the Repugs by 4 to 1.

And again!

3. K&R - excellent list of factors favoring Obama.
Obama MUST do well in the debates - he cannot let McCain stand there and lie and repeat stump speeches (though his lying and stump speeches are one and the same thing). I am going to be carefully watching what the panels ask and how well the moderators follow up and make McCain ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTIONS. If they are dished a bunch of generic questions, the "debates" will be more frustrating than enlightening.

4. Yeah, but they had a shitty week. That's what's concerning...
If the convention had been the full 4 days and gone extremely well then the bounce would make sense and that's that and it would probably die down. But between the Palin controversies, McCain's lackluster speech, the Walter Reed bumble, the complete lack of substance, the relentless negativity, and the hurricane effect of shortening the convention, it was a HORRIBLE week for them. So for them to get a bounce out of such a bad week, that saw brief moments of the press actually doing their jobs for a few scattered minutes (which they won't do again) is VERY disconcerting to me.

Yeah, I'll use it to energize me and motivate me to action, but I'm not gonna pretend it doesn't signal bad things on the horizon.

5. Completely agree. The Palin scandals are just beginning to unfold.
I think the Obama campaign is satisfied with a close race for now and then hit them hard at the end.

6. Thank you. McCain got his expected
convention bounce, which will go back down in a few days. Obama got a bigger bounce even though McNasty stepped on the bounce by announcing that he choose a Moosekiller for his ticket the day after our convention.
