My GOP Idiot friends are not voting for McCain, just against Obama......
I am really having trouble this year even maintaining a friendship with my GOP friends. Other years have been easier. This year I am just to frustrated with them that I can't hardly talk to them!

I honestly think they would vote for Hitler if he was the GOP candidate. Seriously.

They say Obama will raise taxes and increase entitlement spending. That IS ALL they care about and all that matters.

I can point out the Clinton economic years and how the GOP have made the economy SHIT in the last 8 years and it does not matter. All they say is that "McCain is not Bush. We need lower taxes, Obama will raise them".

I swear, if you said McCain would give them a 75% tax decrease they would love it. No matter how big the national debt got. They are that stupid!

They are so Short Sighted because the deficit does not matter to them at all. Just what they have in their wallet NOW! So tax cuts seem great to them because the deficit is a problem for 20 years from now. And they are all well off so they don't have any need for social programs. That is just for poor people who didn't work hard enough!!!

Logic does not work with these people. It makes me want to scream!!!

Thanks for listening to my VENT!! :-)

2. Um - lower taxes = borrowing = taxing the kids & grandkids
I no longer have any Republican friends. Some family members who will no longer even broach politics with me because I can smack them down in as second. I just won't take their bullshit anymore.

4. Ask them if they like bush? If they say yes, then there is nothing to be said
if they say no, then explain to them that mccain voted 90% with bush

Ask them if they are happy about the economy the last 8 years?

Point out to them that the stock market has done much better under Democratic administrations than republican

As far as the tax reductions, ask them who is going to pay for the 1 trillion dollar Iraq war? who is going to pay the billions lost on the banking crisis, and today the fannie/freddie government takeover?

Those issues were created by republican deregulation

As far as their comments about poor people, and that society isn't responsible for them, that says everything

unemployment reached 6.1% Friday

5. I Have Had A Discussion With Some Of My GOP Friends About Wedge Issues.......
I draw a pie and then break it down into pieces - taxes, abortion, fear/terrorism, guns, race, religion, women, etc...

I show them how the Repugs make issues out of each - hoping to draw a voter on the issue - instead of the whole package.

Then I talk health care, education, the economy, etc - the real issues that we should all be concerned about and show them that if they vote only on a wedge issue - they are really shooting themselves in the foot - because the real issues aren't being taken care of by the Repugs. I point out to them the last 8 years. I've been able to sway some of them to vote for Obama - using this tact.

I have friends that are only vote based on taxes.

I have friends that are only vote based on the abortion issue.

I have a staunch NRA member friend that votes based on the guns issue.

But when you take them through this discussion and make them think about what is really important - they start getting the picture and I've been able to convince them.

Most people don't take the time to think about the candidates and the issues like we political wonks here at DU. They hear something someone else says at the office or on the cable news networks or on a political ad - and they think they have made a wise choice. It's only when you take them through the aspect of wedge issues and the real issues - they start to get it.

7. Say to your friends...
"Wow, you're making $250,000 a year? Can I borrow some money from you?"

8. I have dropped my Republican "friends"
I even have trouble being civil to my Republican clients. (actually my hubby's, but we work together)

It goes to core values. And intelligence. After the last 8 yrs, I cannot look beyond the fact that any Repuke is either stupid, ignorant or cruel, and I have no more patience for any of the above.

Enough.
