as an aside: My mother and her best childhood friend ran across McLaughlin Group one Sunday when they were channel surfing. They decided to mute the sound and insert their own idea of what the panelists were saying...in terms of fruit!

Soo McLaughlin was always saying "BANANAS"!!
The balding fat guy (don't remember his name) was shouting Pumpkins

Pat Buchanan was cactus

Eleanor however was 'strawberries"

they had a different accent and voice manner for each one too.
This became a Sunday afternoon tradition for them. (back then when we had 2 PBS stations McLaughlin came on in the afternoon on Sunday)
