Who still thinks Palin might be just temporary
They would be in a helluva bind now to let her go at her "insistence" due to "family" issues or whatever. Republicans would stay home in droves, don't you think? Is all of this stalling still due to the possibility that she might drop out? Or do we think that is a possibility at this point? The twists and turns of this are hard to predict, that's for sure, but what are your thoughts DU?

1. She's on the ticket to stay.
McCain has too much invested in her at this point. Plus, the fundies would be HUGELY pissed if she was dropped from the ticket.

ticket. Or Brownback. or Crist. The problem would be for any of them to voluntarily commit temporary suicide for the party, possibly in return for the next reasonable shot at the presidency. You could be right, though, that Johnnie B. Nuts could have too much, including his ego, involved. Still, it was 17 days after he was nominated that Eagelton dropped off the ticket in 1972.

2. I think she's probably in it for the long haul.
McBush needs the fundy vote to avoid a complete landslide, and giving Palin the boot would send those "Let's all pray that he dies and our girl becomes President ASAP" goobers into a frothy rage.

Plus, he's still has the issue that brought this all on - Nobody but Joe Lieberman wants to have anything to do with his campaign. Also, I think, at this point, that most everyone in America (except in Connecticut, apparently!) hates Loserman's guts.

3. Why would they let her go? She is raising McCain's numbers,
that would be stupid.

5. right
I am just remembering that it was days ago that some were predicting with almost certainty that she would be gone soon. I was just wondering if anyone thought that anymore. Seems extremely unlikely. I was just wondering if she has some REALLY big stuff that they are trying to cover up, maybe that we don't even know about yet, if there could be more to this soap opera....

dropped.

6. raising more money than numbers other than has raised his numbers with
the right wing and evangelicals of the party. It has not raised his numbers with Independents and others that are undecided.

But, they have been getting the money they needed from their base and the enthusiasm.

Will be anxious to see how she helps with Independents and others when we will know more but we can't find that out as they keep her hidden and away from the press. Why is that? Probably a good reason.

9. I don't know. Might be something they are hiding.
But from an overall perspective, he made a fantastic choice. So far it has only helped him. Why in the world didn't he just choose Mittens, damn it.

12. Of course they are hiding something. What election can you remember where they hide one of
the candidates and her attorney is constantly running around putting out fires where he does onel and another pops up.

Also, don't you think the American public has a right to know all about her if she wants to be a VP and potential leader of this nation.

4. The ol PNAC'ers and RR think they've got Alice with the Chalice
not the Dragon with the Flagon, or the Vessel with the Pestle

The reality is her ignorance makes her a perfect sock puppet.

She's staying.

14. i think she'll be gone before the election - they haven't finished fleecing the flock yet
i still think mittens will be brought in
as a pinch hitter.

i admit it won't sit well with the fundies
if they drop her, but so what. the thugs
have hosed them many times before, but they
have limited intelligence and short memories.

17. It would give them the chance to have another news sensation
Kicking her off would saturate the media; they'd have all the attention again.
