CNNs Rick Sanchez just had an interview with first-time voters
This young guy was a McShame supporter and boy he just could not answer Sanchez's question, "Has McShame separated himself from Shrub?" The kid said something like, "I never really thought about it 'til now but it's a good point and yeah he needs to." When Sanchez pressed for an answer the kid just seemed clueless.

The saddest part of the whole thing—they were students from a political strategy course.

2. It is almost as bad a Jay Leno when he does that Jay-Walking routine.
It is sooooo embarrassing...people are so stupid..and in most cases, to stupid to know how stupid they are.

16. I know I would...
When an answer is demanded of me, and I am uptight, I have a problem with the brain to the mouth connection.

5. It just blew me away this kid was in COLLEGE, taking a POLITICAL STRATEGY course
And he was that uninformed and it seemed, uninvolved with the whole process. Granted, when I was in my early 20's I aspired to be a, *gasp*, politician (until I found out how corrupt the whole system was) so I can understand my overindulgence in all things politico but give me a break... he's wasting his parent's repug money.

6. I take a lot of poli. sci. courses for my minor and it seems like
a huge portion of poli. sci. majors don't spend an awful lot of time actually thinking about/analyzing political issues, it boggles the mind...

8. Maybe the kid was only.....
.... his 4th college. By his 5th or 6th, he'll probably be able to @ least deflect Sanchez's questions with snarky comments.

9. when I was a columnist, a colleague of mine
Went around our college campus asking students simple questions, like "Who is the Secretary of State?" etc. Hardly anybody could answer those questions. So even from a political strategy course, that sort of thing doesn't surprise me. Even smart, educated people don't know much about politics or policy. In fact, lots of policymakers don't get it. Like McCain didn't even understand how Social Security worked a month or so ago, remember? 71 years old (then), in Congress 26 years and the nominee of a major party, and he didn't even understand something basic like that. Freakin' mind-blowing. It doesn't really surprise me, but I am still a little amazed by it.

10. I really think they should bring back civics classes to high schools.
I had a great civics teacher my jr. year. Of course, we don't want the masses too educated about the political process I suppose.

11. oh they definitely should
I took a political sociology course a few years ago, and the professor, a sociologist, said when he was tapped to teach it a few years before, he didn't know a lot about your basic civics type of stuff. So he ended up getting some kind of civics textbook or something like that and read it, but he felt after going through school, then higher ed, that he still needed to do that even to teach a class he was supposedly qualified to teach already. He said, and I agree, that we just aren't educated about govt and the political process the way we should be, not even close.

15. He may be a GOP hack
but it doesn't negate the fact that the kid he was interviewing knew absolutely nothing about his candidate, McShame.

Thine own eyes and ears don't lie.
