CNN: "Florida Republican group to boycott Oprah"
Edited on Sat Sep-06-08 07:40 PM by thenext8seconds

*edit* (they're mad because Oprah said she wouldn't be willing to have Palin on her show until after the election EVEN THOUGH she isn't planning to have ANY candidate on before the election AND EVEN THOUGH they apparently aren't even going to let Palin get interviewed by anyone in the media anyway.)

"Women in Florida helped build Oprah into the icon she is today," Linda Ivell, President of the FFRW said in a statement. "We are deeply disappointed in Ms. Winfrey's decision to sit out the greatest political moment in the history of women since suffrage."

OOPS I guess they forgot about Geraldine Ferraro

the most ridiculous thing i've read all night is one of the comments:

"My friends and I, in Michigan, decided we would boycott Oprah too, She promoted Obama on her show, yet, she pretends she is for women rights. What a hyprocrite.

Do these people really think that just because Sarah Palin has a freakin VAGINA means she is for women's rights?

5. Why do they think Oprah has some obligation to have her on?
It's her show, her choice, they think everyone show bow to them. And I doubt Palin would do it anyway, the campaign doesn't want her doing interviews.

6. Sludge and the RW is trying to get this story going based on false pretenses
and Oprah had a statement back to Sludge:

OPRAH'S STATEMENT: "The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."

39. The right despises Oprah's success. Joe Scarborough used to pray
for Oprah's downfall on his evening show. I hope Oprah won't be intimidated into having this woman on her show. It's a trap by the rightwing. If she does a softball interview, the left will be pissed, and if she does an in-depth interview, the right will claim that Oprah sabotaged her.
