so I'm making a new thread. (TO CLARIFY: This is in response to those requesting politely and others snarkily demanding that race not be discussed whatsoever in a way that is seen as "attacking" Palin or others without proof, as they feel it damages Obama.)
Is this or is this not a messageboard where discussion occurs?
Or, is this instead only a place for experienced political operatives to "do their thing?"
I understand why there is concern about silly rumors and such being played up and about people posting in a way that can be construed by the "outside" in a way that turns independents and such off.
I don't question the ability of the Obama Team. And, I DO understand they have to be strategic.
But, WHY DO WE, AVERAGE PEOPLE, have to avoid calling out the BLATANT, GLARING TRUTH?!!!
Why should we sit back and allow the suddenly closet racists to continue to pull the "muslim" card and the "name" card when it all comes down to OUT-AND-OUT RACISM that they have been proud of, vocally, their entire lives?
It's a STRATEGIC MOVE ON THEIR PART to keep it silent. THEY ARE TERRIFIED.
People need to know how deep-seated and dangerous this is...and I feel very, very strongly that most rabid followers of Palin (who KNOW what she is all about) are flat-out racists who have been proud of it their entire lives and want to shout it from the rooftops.
What is different about this than people wanting McCain to show his true temper and lose it? Why not go with truth and transparency for us, the average people, in the field? Including on a messageboard.
There is no rumor about racism still being prevalent. We don't have to hammer Palin in general, but that particular group of people has earned the right to be called out on it.
I mean, geez, there was enough tension and in-fighting here during the primaries, why can't the process of discussion proceed when people are being rational? And, believe me, I'm being very rational about this. I've been knee-deep in it the last few weeks, calling "them" out and them finally being glad to admit that's what it is all about.
They are terrified of Obama similar to us now being terrified of someone like Palin (extremist wingnut) in the White House.
They are a subset that needs to be exposed. A rather large subset of the population throughout the country.
This is just my opinion. Not as an operative, but as a human being, as an American citizen.
I resent essentially being called a dumbass because I believe truth should be exposed. Perhaps they can have a different forum for unexperienced dumbasses to discuss these issues, and a separate forum for experienced operatives, so outsiders won't take what we post to heart and we can therefore discuss freely.
