Refresh my memory - Didn't the right wing go gaggle over Quayle, too?

I seem to remember his selection was loved by the right wing back in '88. Is that correct?

2. It was '88, but yes, he was a darling of the RW. (They didn't trust Bush 41 much)

5. Yes, but at that time we had a MSM who were quick to point out
what a dummy he was. I remember SNL skits with him being represented as a blond child while George HW treated him as such.

7. I recall wingers calling for his replacement in 1991
because he was a drag on the re-election effort.

But that's just me, no link.

8. They were not ecstatic, no.
And as the other poster mentioned, he must not have hurt much if he did, because Bush won.

9. I recall it didn't go over well with the general public
Bush rolled him out at the worst possible time (during convention week). It was considered a rather sloppy introduction. Neither of them ever lived it down.

I'm sure hardcore RWers didn't mind. Quayle is basically one of the founding fathers of the neocon movement.

Today, however, they've all learned to put on a happy face and not diss the nominee. I'm sure there's lots of grumbling about Palin, but they're putting up serious false fronts.
