CSPAN caller raised a scary point regarding McSame
He may feel that we "lost" Vietnam and now he might feel that he needs his own war that he must overwhelmingly win to avenge the loss of the Vietnam war.

1. Yeah, and this time he'll do it without having his hands tied by Congress
or the dirty fucking hippies and peaceniks. He's still sore about that "interference" by Congress and some of their constituents all those years ago.

2. That was not a secret. That sentiment was being openly played at the convention.
They were working hard to stimulate all the old right wing resentments and the Vietnam stuff still sizzles. That was one aim of their convention. John Sidney McCain III, humble servant of the people with only seven homes, is going to win this next war. Not like the damn demonstrating Democrats who want us to give up or just talk to our enemies.

3. I've heard the same theory from a psychologist.
We were in a group phone banking for Obama during the primary from someone's home. When we finished, we all sat around schmoozing political theories, gossip, etc. This woman had worked with vets. She said anyone who'd gone through being a POW for that length of time had to have extreme emotional baggage. She thought McCain was so war like re Iraq because he really needs to win a war to make up for losing in Vietnam.

6. Uh. Duh.
I thought that was obvious. That's what the entire Republican Party is about. Proving they can win an insurgent war so they can "prove" Dems lost Vietnam.

8. You do not hire a neocon who's itching to go to war with Iran, if you really 'hate war.'
That neocon would be PNAC/CLI's Randy Scheunemann, McCain's chief foreign policy adviser and spokesman.

9. Sorta Hitler's rationale for the "humiliation" that Germany had to "endure" after
the First World War. To fight and win that last football game as a metaphor. To restore one's lost manhood.
