People, Read the HAndmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood...
Or rent the movie and watch it.

It's what could very well happen if this group of Republican's have their way.

In many ways they ar more dangerouse than Bush.

1. Also, read up on Dominionism. Fits real well with The Handmaid's Tale.

2. When I read that book 20 years ago
I actually got scared. I'm actually surprised it's been so long and we're not there yet. A bit encouraging, maybe we can hold it off. But you are right, everyone should read it. I should read it again.

4. Yes. Exactly.
It's not hyperbole to imagine that.

I do agree....this group of Republicans are far more dangerous than Bush. I never, in a million years, thought I'd be saying that.

all my favorite dystopian science fiction literature and movies are starting to come true.

6. The story starts out with the couple finding out that they didn't have access to their bank account.
ATM cards weren't very common at the time I read it. Now the scenario seems totally plausible.

7. That was a really creepy tale
With resource limits in water, arable land, and oil fast approaching, I just have to wonder how many people this ol' planet can sustain. I wonder what the consequences will be and just how ugly the 'solutions' will get. The Handmade's Tale seems does seem like something this group of repukes would come up with.

8. I watched the movie and had panicky nightmares, even now
thinking about it sparks fear in my heart. As a very fertile person, it scared me that we could be targeted like that if we lost our ability to protect ourselves from the predatory class.

Reminds me of my what my great democrat Dad said, he said guns are to protect us from the goverment.

13. Watched the movie this past June - my mom had recommended it
and had taped it some time ago. Boy let's hope that things don't get to that. Must fight the gov't imposition of religion.

14. Absolutely!
I have read the book and seen the movie, its weird when things like The Handmaid's Tale and V for Vendetta are pieces that just ten or so years ago you would have considered pure fiction! We are so dangerously close to those worlds that it is truly terrifying when I think of my daughter's futures.
