Lynn Westmoreland (Racist - GA) Claims He Is Not A Racist
Westmoreland Statement on “Uppity” RemarkWestmoreland, who is contemplating a 2010 run for governor, released the following statement:

“I’ve never heard that term used in a racially derogatory sense. It is important to note that the dictionary definition of ‘uppity’ is ‘affecting an air of inflated self-esteem —- snobbish.’ That’s what we meant by uppity when we used it in the mill village where I grew up."

2. there is a point. i know it is code in racism, but also i believe in definition of word too
and i have heard the word used in regards to snobbish white too.

we can assume intent, but it would just be assumption.

6. Then you agree, it's okay to call Obama a "boy"
and the only problem would be Obama is not adolescent.

11. where did i agree to that. but then i have caught myself in that one too
i was gonna say hey boy, and then flash in brain, black dont. if it had been a white person i would have said with no thought, but since it is a code to black male it hit me and i stopped.

again it is in intent

8. True, but
when a redneck repuke from Georgia uses it, I would give it a very high probability of being used as a derogatory term.

12. and you are probably right. all i am saying, is.... there is a point. i
would probably give it to my boys just as i have laid out here. could be without being offensive, probably is meant to be offensive. and leave it there.

9. Yes, "uppity" gets used in reference to women also. But this guy IS a racist shit.
He gives people that say "I am NOT a racist" a bad name.

3. If it snorts like a pig, oinks like a pig and smells like a pig, it's a damn pig
westmoreland sounds like a racist pig to me, but i'm also EXTREMELY sensitive to it.

7. According to Wiki, Westmoreland Grew Up in Metro Atlanta
Is that a mill village or is this a different Westmoreland?

10. Metro Atlanta covers a lot of ground nowadays.
I live in Woodstock, about 25 miles northwest of Atlanta and it is considered being in metro Atlanta.
