Anyone else feel like it's SEXIST for the McCain campaign to keep Palin from talking on her own?
According to Nicole Wallace of the McCain campaign, the American people don't care whether Sarah Palin can answer specific questions about foreign and domestic policy. According to Wallace -- in an appearance I did with her this morning on Joe Scarborough's show -- the American people will learn all they need to know (and all they deserve to know) from Palin's scripted speeches and choreographed appearances on the campaign trail and in campaign ads.

Sounds like the thing an old, rich, white boss would do to his over-qualified and under-paid assistant. Is this 2008 or what?

1. Yes....
and more of us need to keep making that point constantly.

I was just going to post about that, myself....and I still will. At every opportunity.

in the minor league cities so the comments wouldn't get much press?

3. Spot on...Others are starting to make similar points
Judith Warner writes in today's Times: "Could there be a more thoroughgoing humiliation for America’s women?" It's a great read:

4. They could care less if called Sexist. They havve built a firewall
around her. They know they can get away with this because the Media
and the blogs continue to treat her as if she is the Presidential
Candidate

Obama is running against McCain I thought.

5. Yes, and I appreciate this thread. It's the frame to mention Palin. McCain's sexism in not allowing
her to face tough questioning and scrutiny.

7. Right. McCain using her for PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES and NOT allowing her personal worldview to be aired
and especially not questioned.

That's sexist. A female partner not allowed to answer 'serious or probing questions' into her own views, but must parrot the talking points written for her by the men directing her.

10. No, it's not sexist.
They did the same thing, though not to this extreme, with Quayle in 1988. Let's not throw around cries of sexism and make it meaningless, like the Republicans are doing now.

13. be my guest! credit would be nice, but
get the analogy out there: the more we can paint her as just an empty suit, the female George Bush, the better.

16. Not really.
The election is about McCain and Obama and not Palin and Obama. Too much focus on her cannot help Obama.
