http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6947772&mesg_id=6947772Given that today's market is trying to price in what's happening down the road, I am wondering about 2 things:
1) In the Upper Midwest, early September has been cool, leading to some speculation that Fall's first frost will come sooner rather than later. This would tend to suggest that oil will creep back up as heating oil demand increases sooner than anticipated. That probably won't do the market any good.
2) I'd have to guess retailer stocks won't fare well this month, because I have to think with gas running around $3.50-4, and unemployment spiking, that this will be a weak Christmas buying season. I'm guessing that a lot of families will do what they can for their kids, but skip the presents for one another.
