Pat Buchanan is all over it, never seen so many old-man hard-ons outside of a Viagra convention! McCain has dismissed the Republican party, McCain has put the Republican party behind him, McCain is on his own as his own man! Didn't take long for the others to chime in. The cable media will help them in advancing this theme, that McCain can no longer be considered a Republican or a Bushie, 'cuz he dissed 'em at their own convention!

IT'S FUCKING BRILLIANT! And it very well may work.

This is a bad narrative for the Democrats, but not an insurmountable one. Remember to tell all your friends to LOOK AT THE RECORD OF McCAIN and the GOP before they believe this man and "Maverick" have anything more in common than recollections of an old b-movie.

3. Just because they say it, it doesn't make it so
Of course they will try to distance from Bush. But it's easier to say it than to do it.

5. That may be the line they're selling, and that may even
be what McSame is thinking, but I think Rove, Cheney, et. al are still pulling the strings. If McSame was his own man, Palin would be sitting with the Alaska delegation wildly cheering McCain and his VP pick. Because he sure as hell didn't want her. She was Rove's choice. Why and for what purpose remains to be seen.

9. Ugh! It's not brilliant and it won't work any better than it ever has.
This isn't new. Every party tries to do this when their not popular. Hell, every repub who ran in 2006 and now in 2008 is doing it. It didn't save them two years ago and it's not likely to do much better this year.

13. That speech fucking SUCKED.
It sucked a big donkey dick (sorry for the visual). It sucked rocks. It sucked pond scum.

They are desperate to spin it positively, but can't. People know a sucky speech when they hear one, trust.
