VP hopeful Palin attended 5 colleges in 6 years

By NICHOLAS K. GERANIOS, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 12 minutes ago

SPOKANE, Wash. - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin attended five colleges in six years before graduating from the University of Idaho in 1987.

Federal privacy laws prohibit the schools from disclosing her grades, and none of the schools contacted by The Associated Press could say why she transferred. There was no indication any of them were contacted as part of the background investigation of Palin by presidential candidate John McCain's campaign.

"Our office was not contacted by anyone," said Tania Thompson, spokeswoman for the University of Idaho in Moscow.

Palin, the governor of Alaska, was born in Idaho. Her family moved when she was only a few months old to Alaska, where she was raised.

I wouldn't necessarily make anything from the fact that she changed colleges a lot.

25. not unheard of
my BIL took a long time. Of course, he was working full-time and had kids. I've known others who went that route, taking one or two classes while putting in a full week at work. Nothing wrong with it.

31. Hey it took me 5 years to get my BA!!
And I only finished after I was 50 years of age!

But I went on an got my Masters at age 61.

So,you see,there's hope.

I didn't have an accelerated degree program as a youngmother of 3 kids so I had to wait until I was middle aged to have the money and the time to do so. I finished off my Bachelor's at age 55 and started my Master's at age 57. We had a great party with my kids and grandkids. It was a teachable moment for those grandkids!

I guess we now know why nobody from University of Idaho remembers her. Christ, at least Obama had memoirs early in his political career, so we at least had a blue print right off the bat. This Palin person is becoming the Laura Palmer of the Republican party.

41. Yes, 2 of them were 2/year colleges.
North Idaho, and Matanuska-Susitna. The latter school is part of the Alaska state niversity system - and would guarantee acceptance to students who couldn't get admitted to the main campus in Anchorage.

I would LOVE to see her grades.

16. Yee-ouch.
I was the one defending her earlier, saying the fact that she has a journalism degree doesn't mean she's stupid, nor does the fact that it's from a state school, nor that it's from the University of Idaho.

However, five schools in six years before getting a bachelor's...that's a red-flagger.

I mean, even if she transferred once, it wouldn't be a big deal. The reason wouldn't have to be poor grades--it could be moving from community college to a four-year campus, or transferring for financial reasons, or because her original choice of school was a bad fit for some reason, or because she didn't have the grades in high school to be admitted to her first choice but eventually earned her way in as a transfer through good grades someplace else.

But five colleges in six years...yeesh.

I don't even care if she went to many schools (though it is kind of sketchy and perhaps a red flag), but it's just shady to me that we know NOTHING about her.

Geeze, this whole thing ticks me off. I know..at least I hope I know that Obama will win but what the heck will we be in for if he doesn't. Dumb and Dumber? Can you see her trying to talk w/Putin? He'd mince her up and she'd get ticked off. Picture it folks, it isn't pretty.
