The White Man's Last Stand
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 03:58 PM by CatBO
I think I have figured it out. What we are seeing at the RNC is the White Man's Last Stand.

And it's not just because Obama is not white. It's because the electorate is becoming more and more racially diverse.

Old White Men, and their kept White Women are seeing very clearly that in 10-15 years they will be the minority race in America. White supremacists have been fighting for decades to undermine and get rid of anyone who isn't white.

The Hitleresque photo of Palin is more than mere coincidence, Republicans are fighting for what they consider the "Master Race". This is their last election to try to get there. They want more Katrinas (1,800 dead victims - mostly minorities) and their Iraq war (2,500 deaths in a volunteer army filled with minorities). They want to do whatever they can to destroy anyone who is not pure, lily-white and Christian.

By sheer demographics, they are fighting a losing battle, and they absolutely know it, and that is why they are so unbelievably desperate. Even if they win this election, in 4 years there will be even more minorities voting in the US, until at some point the White Republican is a small pool. Their only hope is to corrupt the system, destroy immigration and rid the country of as much of the minority population as possible. To these guys, these "master race" types, this is serious business.

And as a white woman, I am heartened by the fact that soon, white people will be a distinct minority in this country. People like this must be stopped.

Mostly I feel sad for all the non-whites who support a party that is trying to destroy them. Seeing them at the RNC on television, I wonder what is wrong with them on such a fundamental level that they will commit personal, soul suicide by teaming up with this party.

1. I have thought this for years now. It is too bad they can't
fade out gracefully.

3. It really is too bad...
Assuming they don't take down our country on their way out though, it's a blessing to realize that given time, they will fade into just another minority here.

5. I think I should just go back to Norway (from whence came
my ancestors) so I won't be a minority!!

8. I dunno... I kinda like it.
I grew up in the south, where if you weren't white, you were black. There was no in-between in the 70's, or so it seemed.

I went to a school where I was in the minority, and it was a harsh environment. I was teased a lot. Atlanta in the early 70's was a tense, tough, ugly racial hotbed.

I moved away when I was 21, to DC. Suddenly I was surrounded by just as many non-white people, but they were of all different races. I fell in love with ethnic food and traditions, and of course people. There was no tension, at least not what I had felt as a kid.

I have moved back to the south, but not Atlanta. Now I live in Charlotte. Again, it's a diverse place with many ethnicities. My best friend is a guy from Ethiopia who is no longer a practicing Muslim but was raised that way.

I would never want to be somewhere filled with other people just like me. I enjoy learning and living within other cultures too much.

16. My ancestors came from Germany where everyone was the same color
But they were judged by their religion. Most of my ancestors were Mennonites.

My mom does geneaology. She recently told me that in 10 generations there has been only one Roman Catholic in my family tree, and that was by marriage.

4. Racism is vulgar.
Even when it appears in posts on DU.

The Democratic Party is the party for all Americans and Obama will be the President for all Americans. As he said in his speech, this campaign isn't about him, it is about us - all of us.

our opponents.

BTW, my mother is a white woman and she was a hard worker; certainly not "kept" by her husband.

Just because you're attacking your own race, doesn't make racism any prettier.

Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 04:51 PM by CatBO
I am talking about white supremacists. The RNC wants whites to remain a majority here in the US. I don't think that's right. It is unfortunate that you consider that "racist".

Since you edited your post, let me point out that the "White Kept Women" refers to the Republican white Christian women who believe women should not control their own bodies. I don't really care about your mother and wasn't referring to her here. It is also unfortunate that you took my comment so personally.

11. My problem isn't with attacking white supremacists....
However, you made generalizations in your post that sound equally racist. See my previous comment.

Your heart is probably in the right place, but your words can be very easily taken out of context in a way that will stoke the flames of racial divisiveness. And the Freepers and RW are looking for any excuse to do that.

15. Yeah, and this place isn't a goldmine of stuff to be taken out of context...
I said what I thought. It is clear some don't agree with it. That is unfortunate - but I am not "sorry" about it.

17. Just FYI.....
regarding your statement about minorities serving in the Iraq war:

http://www.icasualties.org/oif/Ethnicity.aspx

Whites make up 74.7% of casualties. I would guess that the majority of those are from rural and small-town areas.

The white Rethug war-profiteers have absolutely no problem with sacrificing working and middle class white people's children.

You sound like those Jewish people who make a living from writing books about how Israel and the "International Jewry" are secretly controlling the planet. It's crass. It's vulgar. Hatred is never cool, even if its directed at your own people.

14. \/\/...hutever...
"people like this" = "white supremacists" = most of what I'm seeing come out of the RNC.

If you don't like the way I state it, then again, that is unfortunate.

10. Obama is as much white as he is black, and I wish people would not forget that
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 04:51 PM by slackmaster
It's because the electorate is becoming more and more racially diverse.

It is also becoming more racially mixed as the traditional taboos against interrational marriage fade away.

And as a white woman, I am heartened by the fact that soon, white people will be a distinct minority in this country.

As a white man, I hope I live to see the day when people don't judge others by the color of their skin. I am sorry for your feelings of guilt. The problems that non-white people have in this country are clearly not your fault or mine.

13. I don't have feelings of guilt...
I have nothing to feel guilty for. I just want this country to be rid of the feelings of hate - I think that this racist issue with white supremacy is what is driving the RNC to be so racheted up and hateful. They sense that they are losing this "homogenous white" thing and they are turning very hateful over it.
