Re: "Rush: The Left Declares War on God"
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 02:26 PM by krispos42
I read this post on Limbaugh by The Fuzz and my reply got so long I decided to post is myself.

Here's The Fuzz's post:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=post&forum=389&topic_id=3922283&mesg_id=3922283

And this is my reply to the excerpt of Rush posted therein.

There is no moral structure to liberalism that has to be followed.

False. Things like universal quality health care, universal access to quality education, protecting the weak from the powerful, taking care of the pregnant and the newborn, are moral issues that WE are on the correct side of.

It is why they're able to tell themselves that the biggest enemy they face

is not Al-Qaeda.
It's not the new Russia.
It's not Iran.
It's not the North Koreans.
It's not China.

The Democratic Party competes with the Republican party on political issues in the United States. The biggest enemies that we, the United States of America faces, is different from domestic political competition.

Furthermore, it's the Right's absolute refusal to get us off of foreign oil, the Right's absolute need to have massive military spending on large numbers of military bases on foreign lands, the gleeful discard of our economic sovereignty, the greedy, profit-driven exportation of our manufacturing sector, that enables Al-Qaeda, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Russia, China, and other countries to be a threat in the first place.

The biggest enemy the American left faces is conservatism and the Republican Party.
To them, that represents true evil.

The Republican Party is what's keeping us from accomplishing our goals, listed in part above. China isn't, Russia isn't, etc.

Russia is not evil.
Iran is not evil.
Israel is close to being evil. North Korea is not evil,
the new Russia is not evil

They are problems that are to be dealt with in an adult manner. You know, being diplomatic and clever and discrete and subtle and Byzantine. The same talents that you apply to getting into power but can't seem to apply overseas.

because they have a messiah who can deal with all those people.

Ever see "Jesus Camp", Rush? Where all the evangelican fundamentalist Christians are damn-near worshipping a cardboard cutout of Bush?

But the evil that they have to fight is us.

It's not Al-Qaeda, or Russia, or China that is taking away my Constitutional rights. Nor are they making the rich richer and the poor poorer. Or breaking federal laws for their own profit and power. Or sending my job overseas. Or putting incompetent but loyal cronies in positions of power over Americans.

And when you have no moral structure (which they don't)
and then you engage in fighting what you consider to be evil,
why, evil must be vanquished, must it not?

Wasn't it Karl Rove that promised a century of Republican rule?

At whatever cost.
And if you have no moral structure, then how can you even say there is a cost to what you're doing?
So, to be human, to have standards, is to be demeaned and disparaged.

When is the last time the Republicans flinched at the human or economic cost of Iraq?

To believe in something greater than government,
to believe in something greater than global warming,
to believe in something greater than health care for all,
to believe in something greater than pure, unadulterated socialism,

is to be demeaned and disparaged.

Only when that believe is used in place of good government, global warming, health care for all.

Like God is to be condemned.

Awww, is poor widdle God's feelings hurt?

People who believe in God are to be condemned.

Only when they use God as an excuse for their own aggrandizement, their own cruelty, their own greed, or their own accumulation of power.

The American left
-- which now embodies the working class government,

"Working class government?" Only if you consider your 13-million-dollar-a-year ass "working class". How are those tax breaks working out for YOUR "working class" ass, Rush?

the Washington government,

Ibid.

the American mainstream media,

 You mean NBC, owned by the transnational defense contractor GE? Or did you mean ABC, owned by the transnational media company Disney? Or CNN, owned by the transnational media company AOL-Time-Warner? Or Fox, owned by hard-right-wing transnational media lord Rupert Murdoch? And don 't even get me started on their advertisers like Big Oil and Big Pharma.

and the Democrat Party; that's the American left

-- are truly frightened of God. That's who they're trying to beat.

No, we're trying to beat His deluded, evangelical, theocratical, fanatical followers, both here and abroad, that have been corrupted by egomaniacal, power-hungry politicians. See: George W. Bush, Michelle Bachmann, Pat Robertson, etc.

They're trying to wipe God out of every heart and soul in this country that believes in God.
God is their competitor.

Nope, sorry, Rush. Try again.

Those of you who believe in God and are God's soldiers,
you become the enemy on the battlefield.

I repeat: "No, we're trying to beat His deluded, evangelical, theocratical, fanatical followers, both here and abroad, that have been corrupted by egomaniacal, power-hungry politicians. See: George W. Bush, Michelle Bachmann, Pat Robertson, etc."

The only way to beat God is to beat you.

Is God's power based soley on the number of his followers? How do you rectify this with the concept of an omniponent God?

To beat God out of you.
And this is what they're doing,

No, just the evangelical part and the theocratic part.

and make no mistake about it. To believe in human life, whether it be a Down syndrome child or an out of wedlock pregnancy is to be condemned.

And when's the last time YOU praised all the poor black and Hispanic unwed mothers in our urban areas? When is the last time you said how wonderful it was that all these black and Latino pregnant single women had chosen life instead? Oh, and where is the public aid to help those poor mothers take care of those children properly?

It's to be condemned.
Stop and think about that.
To believe in human life is to be condemned.

Only by you and yours, Rush. Been talking about nuking Arabs off the map recently?

So, according to Mark "Maxi" Shields,

it's Sarah Palin's fault that the liberal media is investigating.
It's Sarah Palin's fault that the liberal media is trying to destroy her 17-year-old daughter.

Awwww, upset that the media is actually doing it's job and investigating a story instead of just regurgitating press releases?

Mark Shields said it; we had the sound bite in the previous hour.
The libs have been all excited about change.

Obama represents change! He represents somebody new! He's not from Washington! He speaks well. He's handsome.

His experience or lack thereof is dismissed.

He dragged himself up by his bootstraps to graduate, without legacy or other "welfare", from Harvard Law. Unlike Bush or McCain.

Furthermore, McCain doesn't have "experience", he has experiences that he has learned little if anything from.

Nobody even thinks to ask how he is being a father to his two young daughters given his campaign schedule,

His daughters are teenagers and aren't mentally disabled. You might as well ask the same question of McCain or Biden, for all it's worth.

then along comes Sarah Palin. She represents more change than Obama;

 1) How is continuing BushCo policies change? 2) She's the VICE-President, which means she'll either be in the traditional VP role, which is essentially an administration cheerleader and PR flack, or she'll be in the Cheney-inspired Co-President type of VP. Do you really think McCain's going to let her ride him like a pony?

No. The only "change" she'll bring to the VP office is long hair in place of male-pattern baldness.

she is infinitely more qualified than Obama.

You can't seriously believe that, can you?

I heard Obama's response to that, by the way? He said,
"What do you mean, I have no executive experience?
Why, I've been running my campaign for a year and a half.
I've been running my campaign.
I'm managing my campaign!"

We all know he's not managing the campaign. A guy named David Axelrod is.
But, Obama actually said he's got more executive experience running a presidential campaign than Sarah Palin has as two years as governor of Alaska.

21 months of governor of a small, quiet state? How many days a year is the Alaska Legislature in session, anyway?

Then along comes Sarah Palin, who represents more change than Obama,

Again,

she comes from a place further from Washington than Obama.

Aww, so I guess when the Air Force wants her to ride on a BIG airliner to go home, you know, for national security reasons, you'll call her an elitist and hound her into flying commercial?

She is an accomplished politician and governor of a state.

Again,

She's got five kids.

So she's had sex at least five times. Woo-fucking-hoo.

She is treated as the devil!

No, she's being treated like any neoconservative Bush-loving Republican deserves to be.

She is being treated as the devil incarnate. The attacks on Sarah Palin are attacks on most American families in this country.

Gee, that would also mean that the attacks on Barack Obama are attacks on most American families in this country. And, fuckin' shocker, it would also mean that the attacks on the Clingons are attack on most American families in this country as well! I take it you'll be shutting your fat gob up post-haste, then? And when can I expect your apology for the last 16 years of bullshit?

I'm not saying every American family has the same beliefs or practices,

No, but if they don't they're evil secularist liberals that hate America.

but this is an attack on the family, on working women, on marriage.

Again, when I can I expect your public apology to Obama and the Clintons?

They rip her for her experience, and they gleefully are cited by the haters.

We rip you for daring to say she's experienced.

Go to hell, you thrice-divorced hypocrite.

1. Much of Alaska is shut down when the sun goes down (so to speak) ...
they have the 4th of July fireworks in October ... when they have night ...

When the tourists leave, it's a ghost state in many places.

2. Quoting Dan Barker's song "(I'm Your) Friendly Neighborhood Atheist":
You keep accusing me of blasphemy
all of the time
But I cannot be convicted of
a victimless crime . . .

Atheists . . . are people too!

4. Do any of these right wind a-holes
even go to church?
Does Ann Coulter to to church?
Does Limbaugh go?
I'm so freakin' sick of listening to this line of attack.
Don't right wing evangelicals have any anecdotal evidence of Democrats going to church themselves that they don't buy this anymore?
