6. I'm NOT picking on the child, so I don't want to hear it...
...but I came into the living room - I couldn't bear to watch it - just in time to see the littlest girl licking her hands and getting them good and slobbery, then smoothing the baby's hair. She did it at least twice. Kinda icked me out, but probably only because I've never had children. Mom's get used to those things, I'd think. But I had to turn away. Why whoever was sitting next her didn't stop her I don't know. On national television. Ack. Cute little girl, though, and that baby is precious.

18. If Michelle Obama is a campaign issue - why the hell isn't Cindy McCain?
If there's anything the middle class and working people like less than extremely rich people, it's filthy extremely rich people who flaunt it and have that smug "holier than thou" personality like she does.

34. I believe it's going to go there
Obama warned McCain and the gop goons to lay off of Michelle, which I thought a message that if you don't want Cindy's theft and drug addiction all over the media, lay off--and they did for a while. Now here comes the gop convention and there they are, back at it again. I believe that we are going to begin to hear more about Cindy in the media.

12. Most people thought that little dose of reality was heartwarming.
Orrrrr maybe that's just the press... but no, I've heard a few people IRL say that.

As for me, I'd go with cute and 'real'... cause it just is.

But then I am sick of the GOP narrative of how cute and "real" this family is....:eyes:. They have no issues to go on, so they go straight into the vomit-inducing (at least for me) cute-fuzzies personal crap and push the "Awwwwww" factor. "She has a real story to tell", "She raised all those precious children-obviously she must be qualified to be veep!!!!"

33. Poor Trig will most certainly have picked up one bug or other
by this weekend. He's being handled by people who most certainly have been pressing palms, not washing, then handling HIM. As the mom of a wonderfully special kid, yeah, you could hold him at that age after you washed up to the ELBOWS!

13. What I find appalling is how they use these kids as props
I like how Obama handled his family - he has kept them out of the spotlight with the notable exception of the first night of the convention. He's not running around on the campaign trail setting them up for cheap photo ops for the masses. He lets his deeds and his compassion for the American people do the talking rather than setting up a photo op. Compare that with McShame and his Token Vagina.

My wife told me last year when I was considering running for State Representative that under no circumstance was I going to use our son as a prop or photo op, no matter how sincere or appealing it would be to the voters. I completely agreed with her on that premise and decided that I would postpone my own candidacy until my son was a bit older (he's 3) before I took on a responsibility like that. When I put myself in Palin's shoes, I just can't fathom her decision making with regards to her family.

15. the baby
Something that's been bothering me about that baby since all this hoopla started: he never seems to move or cry. Shouldn't a four month old be wiggling and wimpering all over the place in such a situation? Someone commented that the baby seems to be deaf. He certainly seems severely disabled. But don't Down's babies act basically like normal babies? For awhile it seemed the baby served as cover for Bristol's baby bump but now that her pregnancy is out in the open, the baby just gets passed around like a prop. What parent would drag a baby, any baby, around the way they do this one?

I felt sorry for the child, but it's possible the baby is very mellow and wasn't phased?

Today I am mostly offended by creepy people with babies. Yuck. Go ahead and take it personally. I'm disgusted. 6 billion kittens would disgust me too. And I love cats.

There are lots of them. I love that!

Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 01:10 PM by K8-EEE
I cannot believe they used that baby as a prop in that crowded, loud, overstimulating environment.

Actually ANY 4 month old it would not be a good idea but if that kid gets pnuemonia then bring em up on child endangerment for bringing him on the campaign trail and subjecting him to plane rides & photo shoots, conventions etc for selfish reasons.

They are probably like those Christian Scientist whackjobs that don't treat their kid's medical conditions and instead "pray" that God will remedy them.
