Palin’s Church Supports Ex-Gay Therapy
(Just another example how outside the mainstream Palin is from the rest of the country.)

“We like to call this the Bible Belt of Alaska,” says Cheryl Metiva, head of the local chamber of commerce. Churches proliferate in Wasilla today, and among the largest and most influential is the Wasilla Bible Church, where the Palins worship.

At the 11:15 am Sunday service, hundreds sit in folding chairs, sing along with alt-rock praise songs, and listen to a 20-minute sermon about the book of Malachi. The only sign of culture warring in the whole production is an insert in the day’s program advertising an upcoming Focus on the Family conference on homosexuality in Anchorage called Love Won Out. The group promises to teach attendees how to “respond to misinformation in our culture” and help them “overcome” homosexuality.

Hopefully that is.

4. The ex-gay movement is the fringe, of the fringe.
Can't get any wacky than that. Let's hope the undecideds realize this.

2. Ugh, having heard testimonials from people who went through such "therapy"...
and I use that term loosely, a lot of them are under the age of 18, and are forced to go by parents and such. Palin supports child abuse, basically, some of these places are pure torture, how fucking sick is that shit? :puke:

3. She's far more extremist and demented in her religiosity than even Bush
Anyone who would vote for her, even those pro choice, pro gay rights Republicans who like her because she's a successful, professional woman have got to contemplate how the Supreme Court will look if these two whackos get into power.

In all probability, we are going to see at least two openings arise on the Supreme Court in the next four years. And those two openings are likely to be the remaining moderate justices, not the right wing activists.

9. You know, I tried to be slightly sympathetic to them.
For the idea of trying to reason with the extremists in the Republican Party. For the idea of them trying to affect change in their homophobia.

But, you know? Fuck the Log Cabin Republicans. They can all go fuck off and die. Seriously.

This is a goddamned, inexcusible disgrace.

8. I fucking hate these people.
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 07:37 PM by terrya
I hate Sarah Palin, I hate John McCain, I hate the people in her bigoted, homophobic church, I hate the assholes such as James Dobson and Tony Perkins who pushes this shit.

I fucking HATE the bigots in the Republican Party who actually endorse and shill for this hate.

I hate this "ex-gay" shit.

It's time for me to log off, I think. Too much reality for tonight.

But thank you for posting about this, my friend. It DOES need to be mentioned. :pals:

Recommended.
