TNR: Sarah Who?
Sarah Who?

I've been as fascinated by the up-and-down (down-and-up?) Sarah Palin rollout as anyone. But Palin fan Ross Douthat has advice for the Democrats that is actually rather good:

"Stop referring to her as a just a small-town mayor and a neophyte governor who's unqualified to be President; in fact, stop referring to her at all. Attack John McCain, John McCain, and John McCain. Attack him all day, all night, and on weekends too. Behave as though Sarah Palin does not exist. Pray that the media will find some Palin-related scandal even more shocking than the perfervid theories aired this week (they'll be looking for one, no doubt), and in the event that they fail to do so, do not under any circumstances allow yourselves to be drawn any deeper into a debate (which the McCain campaign plainly wants to have) over the relative qualifications and accomplishments of Barack Obama and the Republican vice-presidential nominee. Nothing that's happened this week has changed the fact that it's going to be very, very hard for the Democrats to lose a race between Obama and McCain - and as a result, the Obama-Biden ticket has vastly more to gain from changing the subject away from Sarah Palin than they do from placing her candidacy, her qualifications and her background front and center in this race."

The most obvious way for Palin to be a game-changer is if Democrats and the media make the game all about her.

1. Change the narrative back to being about We The People.
It's not about Palin. It's not even about Bush and that epic fail.

It's about we the people saying Enough! and taking the power away.

2. That way, if she is forced off the ticket by her various scandals,
all the arguments still apply. McCain won't be able to say that she was the problem but now she's gone.

3. That's pretty much what I've been saying ever since she showed up
It's Obama vs. McCain. Palin will shoot herself in the foot, and that foot will be in McCain's mouth... at an undisclosed location, no doubt. :P

5. Not true, Mccain does not have the support he needs, they are depending on her
to change it, she is and should be just as heavy under the microscope....if not more so, we all know him already and he didn't make the cut with the majority of american citizens..
