Don't expect any national debates from either McCain or Palin. They
(Rove and Cheney) know they cannot let them stray off message. They are beyond being nice or coy about it. Also, they will not pretend Obama or Biden is worth their time or effort.

1. I think it could be even money that SP finds a way to back out of the debate with Biden.
They will say it is unnecessary.
They will come up with some sort of conflict.
And they'll can it.

Wanna bet?

2. Oh, no no no no.
I don't care who it is--if they back out the perception will be that they are chicken.

3. Please. You don't run for president and get away with not debating your opponent.
It just doesn't happen.

McCain isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but he isn't stupid enough to give that kind of fodder to the Obama campaign. Especially when Obama and Biden can brag about how many debates both have participated in this year all ready.

9. McCain has all ready agreed to 3 debates.
The debates are going to happen, period.

I mean no disrespect, but your idea is, well, "silly".

But hey, I'll go out on a huge limb and say that hypothetically you are correct and the McCain campaign somehow finds the excuses to weasle out of the debates. I'd say GOOD, because if they do, that means they lose the election without question. The media would NEVER forgive them for screwing them out of the ratings they would have achieved by covering the debates. Rupert Murdoch would be extremely PISSED. All the networks and papers would turn on them and brand them as cowards. You have to consider that the media isn't really liberal or conservative... its just capitalist. They will do whatever they can to keep the drama going, between both sides. Anything to drive viewers to watch the big political soap opera and make tons of cash off of the advertising.

11. Only problem with you reason, they are not money makers and networks really don't want to waste
their air time. They usually have only 1 or 2 sponsors and they have to beg for those.

4. The debates are already set
What message would it send if the GOP backs out now?

10. I agree with you there.
I was unaware that there had even been dates set aside. According to my fundy mom Obama backed out of ten town hall meetings that he promised to do with McCain. Go figure.
