It's now pretty clear how things will go the rest of the way...
1. Palin and McCain will not come up with specifcs as to how to fix the problems in the country;

2. Palin and McCain will continue to personally attack (and lie) Obama on a daily basis through their speeches, staff, and commercials;

3. Obama and Biden will sit back, not defend themselves nor will they attack back because they are worried how the voters will take it.

4. Palin's schedule will be too "busy" for any hard hitting interviews;

5. McCain will finally figure out how many houses he does have;

6. The Troopergate investigation will not amount to anything since McCain's people have gottent to the witnesses in AK and shut them up;

7. Media will continue to hold Obama to a higher standard and will even being back the Rev Wright speeches.

8. McCAIN will win a very close election.

The day after the elections Obama and Biden wish they would have defended themselves and attacked McCain and Palin more.

The end!
:-(

1. The day after...
"The day after the elections Obama and Biden wish they would have defended themselves and attacked McCain and Palin more."

I keep saying that if the Democratic candidates keep playing nice we will keep losing elections. If they lose and have not hit back at these liars and cheats, I will lose all faith in the Democratic Party.

9. It's one of the wonders of the world...
why the Dems don't hit back hard, even Palin...they could go after her and say "we just gone through 8 years of an ethically challenged administrations and McCain picks someone who is under invetigatigation and may get impeached?" Instead, this morning Biden praises Palin's speech and says he's glad those attacks were not about him....WTF WTF WTF WTF?????

IF WE DO NOT FIGHT BACK AND ATTACK AND ATTACK WE LOSE....this is how elections are won and lost today and we don't get it and the other side very much gets it.

3. No.

I don't agree. While MSM is (hilariously) seizing on Palin as some sort of rising star - - probably precisely because she openly challenged them last night, which is the best way (short-term only) to get them on your side - - I don't think that their lack of substance will bear scrutiny. And Obama and Biden are *not* going to sit back at all. How could you have watched Barack's acceptance speech and concluded that? It's cool, really. We knew that the MSM would go nuts over the Rethugs' convention in *some* manner this week. So far, there hasn't been much for them to chew on.

7. What scrutiny? You expect the media to pay attention
to a lack of substance?

Please.

. . . in post after post, on thread after thread, is certainly curious. Perhaps you should just give up. The rest of us have work to do.

15. I agree
What you see is today's scurrilous, committed MSM, giving a ritual boost to the GOP Convention and then some. I wish I had the major network(both of them) and print reactions to the Goldwater Convention to advise people to be patient. The difference today is pure hysteria- and not on our part, and the fact that a lot of the GOP has been over the line into madness for some time, far far beyond where the Goldwater activists ever dared or desired to go.

This is spectacular, awesome, but not in ways favorable to the GOP or the politeness of their fan base in the MSM. At heart, none of them have the stomach to go down with the ship. When that point, that realization hits...

6. I think you people are crazy...Obama is very good at counter punching Rethug talking points
McCain and Palin will be hit over and over again on the lack of specifics to fix this country. Biden already attacked them on this on CNN this morning.

12. Obama is a brilliant campaigner
He just took down the most powerful faction of the Democratic party - the Clintons.

He knows EXACTLY how to hit back and stay ABOVE their level - the point is made and he doesn't look like the snarky children they are.

18. Even if 1-7 occurs, Obama can still win
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 09:37 AM by 4themind
The end of the game is turnout, the media doesn't have a physical presence to convince people to actually vote. Contrast this to 2004, Karl rove had been ammasing his plan for re-election for TWO years, he;d be building a HUGE get out the vote effort among church communities, and he had many more ballot initiatives designed to encourage fundie turnout, than exist now in many key states. These guys have less than two months to get their act together across the country. Even if everythingyou said above occurs,we still have a significant advantage in voter organization and recruitment. In the end, it's the people who win THIS battle (not so much the media one) that will decide this election, and we already have an advantage in the ground game/volunteering now. If their base were this energized several months ago (like for bush) I'd be more worried than i am now

Take a look at barackobama.com and look at the number of field offices, and compare that to McCain's, it's no contest in the battleground states. While Palin sneers at community organizing, Obama will use what he's learned from his days of registering voters (and using an Alinski-like model) to gain victory in the end. So as far as I'm concerned, no more republican fear, no more appeals to tradition, no more losing, NOT THIS TIME.
