1. It is the new purple bandaid
They are trying to turn the term into a slur ... pretty much a racist slur.

2. in the same vein as "all he has is a speech",
Palin disparaged being a community organizer. And didn't mention anything else that he's done, of course.

3. Palin said she was a small-town mayor...
Which is like being a community organizer, except it involves actual work.

I believe that was the exact quote.

6. She said it comes with responsibilities.
Of course she didn't mention that the people she's responsible to are oil exploration companies and real estate developers.

4. Read.
http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2008/09/sarah_palin_gop_convention_spe.html

or, if you're too lazy to click:

"Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska -- (cheers, applause) -- I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. (Cheers, applause.) I guess -- (interrupted by chants of "Sarah! Sarah!") -- I guess a small-town mayor if sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities. (Cheers, applause.)"

7. Of course, she failed to mention that VERY shortly after she was
elected mayor, she started firing anyone who didn't support her in the election.

The city council hired a city manager to remove her from the day to day actual running of the city (and remember, the city was only 7,000 or so).

5. She even said something along the lines of ...
"I guess being a small town mayor is kind of like being a community organizer, except that mayor is a real job with actual responsibilities." Or something like that.
