Alleged Palin Affair
NOW your talkin' - this wagon's just gettin' rollin'

McCain Camp Battles National Enquirer Over Alleged Palin Affair
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/03/mccain-camp-battles-natio_n_123696.html

John McCain's presidential campaign is threatening a lawsuit against the National Enquirer over a print edition story the tabloid ran today alleging that Gov. Sarah Palin has had an extramarital affair with her husband's business partner.

The allegation would normally be dismissed by political observers as the random musings of a supermarket tabloid -- indeed, the McCain campaign said as much in its statements on Wednesday -- except that the paper has built up a reservoir of legitimacy following its earlier reporting on the John Edwards affair.

In a statement to the Huffington Post, a spokesman for the paper, who promised a larger report next week, tapped into that pool of quasi-respect....

3. Yep
That's pretty much what they said. I wonder if the media will dare to report this? After the Edwards thing, can they afford not to?

8. The MSM can't just sit on this story
They got scooped by the Enquirer once - a second time would be beyond embarrassing. IF the Enquirer is being this brash - I suspect they have something.

I mean, it's the ENQUIRER! Elvis's Ghost meets Clinton's Extra-Terrestrial Army time stuff!

The worst thing McCain can do, would be to ACKNOWLEDGE this story, give weight to this story, by suing the rag! His response speaks volumes about his mind-set.

16. But it's low information voters who read the tabloid and
those are the voters McCain hopes he will win away from Dem ticket with Palin. Maybe that is why?
Or maybe because it is true?

I don't know but it was the ENQUIRER telling her that they knew about daughter and baby's father and were about to release it that made them reveal pregnancy...even though they blamed liberal blogs for it.
Maybe they have a very good source on the gov.

19. This is awful.
I want Democrats to beat them on their politics and policies.

If an affair crops up and kills their morality ticket --- 1st wife McCain had an affair 1st husband Palin had an affair --- how can we get to the affairs of state?

The Republicans have bad policy positions period.

we can clean house from the inside, not from the outside.

I agree with your desire to win on points, but right now, I'll take whatever the fates offer.
